Abstract: A method for operating an Internet site providing encrypted contents is provided, and includes the steps of (a) a site server determining whether or not a customer accessing the site is a registered subscriber; (b) automatically generating a customer-unique encryption key, establishing the site using environment information from the customer computer, and logging-in through a main page in which the customer can select desired contents, when the customer accessing the site is a non-subscriber in the step (a) and the non-subscriber customer requests to register as a subscriber by providing his personal information to the site server; (c) logging in through the main page when, in the step (a), it is determined that the customer accessing the site is a subscriber, using customer information provided by the customer computer; and (d) providing the selected content to the customer computer, after encrypting the content with the customer-unique encryption key.

The apparatus includes a packet collecting unit which captures packets on a network and collects data to be analyzed; a classifying unit which classifies the packets according to type of packets; and a protocol verifying unit which verifies whether the classified packets are suitable for an XHT standard according to the type of packets.

Abstract: A system and method for providing an online community service is disclosed. The online community provision system includes a played-content information provision server, a client and a community server. The played-content information provision server provides played-content information about digital content. The client selects digital content through a user, requests played-content information about the selected digital content from the played-content information provision server, and receives the played-content information. The community server provides an online community service corresponding to user preferences based on the played-content information to the client at the request of the client.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for directly writing multimedia data onto a digital device are provided. The method includes sensing multimedia data written on a storage medium; displaying a user interface screen to display the multimedia data and a folder for a digital device; receiving a command to write the multimedia data in the folder; converting the multimedia data to a format which is playable by the digital device; and writing the converted data in the folder. The apparatus includes a sense unit which senses multimedia data written on a storage medium; a display unit which displays a user interface screen; an input unit which provides input in the form of a command to write the multimedia data in a folder; and a converting and writing unit which converts the multimedia data to a format which is playable by the digital device and writes the converted multimedia data in the folder.

Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus for providing additional information by using an extension subtitle file including an inverse multiplexing unit to separate video and audio data from a multimedia file input by a data input unit, an XML parser to parse a caption data file and an additional information data file input by the data input unit, video and audio data processing units to decode the video and audio data input by the inverse multiplexing unit, and convert the decoded video and audio data into predetermined video and audio signals, a caption processing unit to process the caption data parsed and input by the XML parser, an additional information data processing unit to process the additional information data file parsed and input by the XML parser, and to generate user interface information based on the processed additional information, and a data output unit to display the processed video, audio, caption and user interface information.

Abstract: A source device and a method are provided for certifying and controlling A/V signals output from an A/V device through an output terminal of a digital visual interface (DVI) or a high definition multimedia interface (HDMI), using Digital Rights Management (DRM). The source device includes: a DRM module which decrypts encrypted multimedia contents included in DRM contents through certification of a source device, and generates a control message for controlling digital A/V channels connected between the source device and a sink device based on a DRM rule; an input controller which certifies A/V data input from a media decrypter, and outputs A/V data filtered according to a certifying result; an input interface which converts the filtered A/V data into pixel data and audio data; and a signal transmitter which encrypts and converts the pixel and audio data into high-speed serial digital A/V signals to be transmitted to the sink device.

In the system and method, by encrypting content data so that the content data is distributed with user privileges managed as the copyright holder wants, illegal copying is prevented and user privileges are managed according to predetermined regulations. The method for providing content data comprising the steps of (a) receiving user keys generated by a combination of unique information assigned uniquely to a user; and (b) encrypting the content data using the user keys and a predetermined encryption algorithm, and transmitting the encrypted content data to a user system. The authoring apparatus for creating a multimedia file as a source file with respect to a multimedia product, includes an editor for loading a graphics file, an audio file, and a text file which are selected from a file position in a computer designated by a user, generating an audio file in response to a first control signal for controlling the start and end of audio, and reproducing the graphics file and the text file in response to second and third control signals which are generated in synchronization with the reproduction of the audio file, respectively, a control signal generator for checking reproduction time information on the loaded audio file and generating the first through third control signals, a storage unit for storing a graphic image and audio and text data which are reproduced by the editor, and a multimedia file generator for generating the stored data as a multimedia file using a predetermined format.
