  • Patent number: 11961946
Abstract: A foldable electronic device may have a foldable housing. The foldable housing may be configured to bend about a bend axis. First and second portions of the housing that rotate relative to each other may be coupled by a hinge that is aligned with the bend axis. A foldable display may be coupled to the foldable housing and may be configured to bend along the bend axis as the foldable housing is folded. The display may have an array of pixels supported by a metal layer. The pixels may be interposed between a display cover layer and the metal layer. The foldable housing may have a support layer. To help support the display for bending about the bend axis while preventing damage to the display when the display is contacted by an external object, a spring layer may be interposed between the metal layer and the support layer.

  • Patent number: 5657031
Abstract: A small aperture satellite ground station communications antenna is disclosed. A rectangular section of a curved parabolic reflector is provided having first and second rectangular dimensions. An azimuth elevation pedestal for positioning the reflector is provided such that the antenna bore sight is aligned with a geostationary satellite. The reflector is supported by the pedestal to permit rotation of the reflector about a third polarization axis for the antenna. The rotation along the polarization axis permits the reflector to be optimally positioned such that its long dimension is aligned with an orbital arc of a geostationary satellite. Angle scales are provided on all three axes to facilitate repositioning to other satellites based on an initial satellite location, which serves as a reference for the scales.

  • Patent number: 5450093
Abstract: An antenna system including a phasing circuit for producing balanced, phase isplaced, signals for connection to an antenna. The antenna comprises, for each set of balanced phase signals, a pair of antenna elements disposed serially along a helical path. A transmission line, connected to each of the phasing circuit terminals, drives each antenna element pair at a center location by being connected to the proximate ends of each pair. The antenna has a omnidirectional radiation pattern, a wide band width, a good front-to-back ratio and can be constructed in a compact form.

  • Patent number: 5418021
Abstract: An insulating, tinted glass window assembly of components that can be efficiently assembled and disassembled for repair or cleaning provides a three-layer glass window assembly having a tinted-glass layer sandwiched between two clear, transparent glass panes. The tinted-glass layer is formed by a lattice inner frame holding a plurality of preformed tinted glass sized to fit in the lattice frame. The inner frame also holds the clear, transparent glass panes resting on the inner frame in a spaced-apart relation to the internal tinted glass layer. Thus, two insulating layers of air is presented within each of which air movement is restricted by the lattice of the inner frame, thereby further improving insulation properties of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 5276456
Abstract: An antenna feed having a common circular waveguide with a longitudinally extending rectangular slot in a wall thereof and defining a receive port. An iris is rotatably connected adjacent the receive port permitting selective relative polarization of the transmit and receive signals. The relative polarization may be readily selected by a technician in the field without the need for changing antenna feeds when, for example, changing from co-polarization to cross-polarization. The iris includes a rectangular opening therein permitting the passage therethrough of the transmit signal while blocking the passage of a signal of the same frequency as the receive signal. The iris is positioned adjacent the receive port to enhance coupling of the receive signal into the receive port. The antenna feed provides high isolation between transmit and receive ports without the need for a filter on the transmit port.

  • Patent number: 5127366
Abstract: An aquarium having an aquaculture pot and a water fountain is disclosed in which water is recirculated through filtering material in the pot. A tank cover is formed with a central opening in which the pot is supported. A pipe rises from the water through an opening in the bottom of the pot. The fountain is connected to the upper end of the pipe such that water pumped from the tanks through the pipe sprays from the fountain into the filtering material in the pot. The water is purified by the filter material and returns to the tank through drain openings in the pot bottom.

  • Patent number: 5029294
Abstract: A sensor unit for traffic control of an automatic guided vehicle. Traffic sensor means generates a signal of a specified frequency. Control means controls the direction of the automatic guided vehicle as a function of signal generated by the traffic sensor means. Control sensor means coupled with the traffic sensor means and the direction controlling means sends a stop signal to one or more of the vehicles to resolve conflicts at intersections and avoid collisions and deadlocking.

  • Patent number: 4156940
Abstract: A bias generator produces a voltage (V.sub.R) which is applied to the control electrode of a gating transistor via whose conduction path the contents of a memory cell are read-out. V.sub.R is such that, during read-out, the maximum amplitude of the gate-to-source potential (V.sub.GS) applied to the gating transistor, in a direction to turn it on, is approximately equal to a fraction of the memory cell supply voltage plus an offset voltage comparable to the threshold voltage (V.sub.T) of the gating transistor. The bias generator includes a voltage divider connected across the same supply voltage source as the memory cell. A portion of the supply voltage (K V.sub.DD) generated at a node of the divider is applied to an offset voltage generating circuit which includes as least one device of the same type as the gating transistor and which produces V.sub.R at its output. V.sub.R is approximately equal to K V.sub.DD offset by a voltage comparable to the V.sub.T of the gating transistor. Applying V.sub.
