The printed circuit trace and the electrode are provided on the printed circuit sheet and are electrically connected to each other. The printed circuit sheet is arranged on a magnetic core of an electrodeless discharge lamp, such that the printed circuit trace surrounds the magnetic core and the electrode is located close to a discharge gas inside the electrodeless discharge lamp. The starter has simple structure and is easy to mount, and allows a ballast to start the electrodeless discharge lamp at a low voltage.
