  • Patent number: 7649817
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for recording and/or reproducing data in which a recording and/or reproduction velocity is be reduced when a data recording and/or reproduction error occurs due to a defect of an optical disc during recording of data on and/or reproduction of data from the optical disc. The method includes: recording data on an optical disc that is rotating at a predetermined constant angular velocity; determining whether a data recording error occurs; and if it is determined that a data recording error has occurred, recording data on the optical disc that is rotating at a constant angular velocity which is lower than the predetermined constant angular velocity.

  • Publication number: 20030169653
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and a method of driving an optical disk, and more particularly, to an apparatus and a method of removing radial noise generated when an optical disk is reproduced. The apparatus removing noise in an optical recording medium driver provides a noise processor detecting an error signal from a high-frequency signal output by a pickup when the optical recording medium is reproduced, and removing noise included in the error signal and a second signal processor outputting a pickup motion signal moving the pickup by using the error signal from which noise is removed and which has been output from the noise processor. Through the apparatus and the method, it is possible to solve the problems of a focus drop in a focus servo, and a pickup lens which is confined to a right or left side in a tracking servo, by detecting and removing radial noise from the RF signals which are output from the optical disk.

  • Patent number: 6243335
Abstract: A tracking servo control method for preventing a tremble of an object lens installed in a pickup in an optical disk drive. A determination is made whether a distance between a target track and a current track where the pickup is presently placed is longer than a first distance. When the distance between the target track and the current track is longer than the first distance, both ends of a tracking coil through which a driving current for moving the object lens flows, are shorted. In the meantime, when the distance between the target track and the current track is shorter than a second distance as the pickup moves to the target track, both ends of the tracking coil are opened. The first distance is equivalent to a distance of 1000 tracks, and the second distance is equivalent to a distance of 100-200 tracks.

  • Patent number: 6114894
Abstract: In an optical recording/reproducing apparatus having a 3T-component compensating circuit, among the level-shifted radio frequency signals shifted during a reproduction of recorded data from an optical disc, the level of a 3T component is compensated for, so that error correction may be carried out by a digital signal processor. The optical recording/reproducing apparatus having a 3T-component compensating circuit for reproducing recorded data includes a peaking circuit for amplifying a 3T component from among RF signals outputted from a pickup. A compensating circuit compensates a level-shifted 3T component shifted during the amplification by the peaking circuit. A digital signal processor carries out error correction for the 3T component after the compensation by the compensating circuit.
