    Abstract: A binder includes a polymer, the polymer is obtained by polymerizing a first monomer, a second monomer, a third monomer, and a fourth monomer, where the first monomer, the second monomer, and the third monomer are each independently selected from aromatic alkenyl compounds, ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids, ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid salts, or ethylenically unsaturated carboxylates, and the fourth monomer is selected from a substituted or unsubstituted cyclic compound having at least one double bond. The addition of the fourth monomer in this application can enhance the tensile strength and adhesive strength of the binder, suppress the volume expansion of electrode plates, and enable the formation of a networked structure in the polymer, improving the electrolyte resistance performance and consequently increasing the cycle life of batteries.

The fourth monomer is selected from a substituted or unsubstituted compound containing an amine group and at least two alkenyl groups. By adding the fourth monomer into the binder, this application improves the electrolyte-resistant performance of the binder, improves the lithium-ion conduction performance of the binder, and in turn, improves the low-temperature discharge performance of the battery.

    Abstract: A copolymer-containing binder and an electrochemical device containing the binder. The copolymer includes a polymer formed by copolymerizing a first monomer and a second monomer. The first monomer is a propylene monomer. A crystallinity of the copolymer is 10% to 40%. A molar percent of an amount of the first monomer in a total amount of all monomers in the copolymer is 30 mol % to 95 mol %. A molar percent of an amount of the second monomer in a total amount of all monomers in the copolymer is 5 mol % to 70 mol %. An electrode plate containing the binder according to this application is more resistant to powder flaking after being hot-calendered or wound, and is of higher quality. In addition, the binder is highly resistant to an electrolytic solution, thereby improving performance of the electrochemical device.

The present application greatly reduces the DC resistance of the lithium ion battery and the charge transfer resistance at the interface without losing the energy density of the lithium ion battery, without affecting the cycle life of the lithium ion battery or causing cyclic expansion, which avoids the lithium precipitation phenomenon of the lithium ion battery during the cycle of charge and discharge.
