    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for installing an application into a device in communication with an implantable medical device (IMD) are provided. A boot sequence of the device is performed. A pre-installation configuration of the device is performed. The pre-installation configuration comprises locating a set-up key relating to a non-volatile memory of the device and setting up a portion of the non-volatile memory using the set-up key to define a named portion of the non-volatile memory. The application is installed into the named portion of the non-volatile memory.
