  • Patent number: 11902343
Abstract: A system and method for managing a conference call using a selective transmission unit (STU) to manage multiple client devices participating in the conference call. In one example, the STU uses video transmission parameters and video reception parameters from each of the client devices to control which video streams are sent by the client devices to the STU. The STU then sends particular received video streams to each of the client devices based on the video reception parameters of the respective client device.

  • Publication number: 20230388583
Abstract: A system and method for optimizing video for transmission on a device includes, in one example, the method includes capturing an original video frame and scaling the original video frame down to a lower resolution video frame. The lower resolution video frame is downscaled using a first encoder to produce a first layer output and the first layer output is decoded. The decoded first layer output is upscaled to match a resolution of the original video frame. A difference is obtained between the upscaled decoded first layer output and the original video frame. The difference is independently encoded using a second encoder to create a second layer output. The first and second layer outputs may be stored or sent to another device.

  • Publication number: 20090141756
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the disclosure, a thermal feedback system comprises an adaptive controller coupled to a heater element and a temperature sensor. The heater element and the temperature sensor are thermally coupled to a laser diode. The adaptive controller estimates an estimated error according to a measured temperature from the temperature sensor, and determines a target from the estimated error and a temperature reference. The adaptive controller adjusts an input to the transfer function model according to the target to decrease the estimated error. The input to the transfer function model drives the heater element.

  • Patent number: 7190717
Abstract: A system and method for reordering tones of a DMT signal within a communication system is described. Cross tone correlated noise in a received signal is identified and rearranged such that tones with correlated noise are spread out throughout the received signal before being processed by a decoder such as, Viterbi decoder. In an embodiment, two tones with the most correlated noise are placed at each end of the sequence of tones presented to the Viterbi decoder. In some embodiment, the tones with correlated noise can be spread such that two adjacent tones with correlated noise have a minimum distance of at least three tones between them at the input to the Viterbi decoder. In other embodiment, tones in the received signal can be processed in various kinds of interleavers for reordering according to the interleaver scheme.
