  • Publication number: 20130162237
Abstract: An energy-based oriented switching mode power supply includes a bi-directional converter having an energy input and a load output, and an energy based pulsed generator connected between the energy input and the load output for outputting a gate voltage signal controlling how much energy is supplied from the energy input. The energy based pulsed generator receives a clock signal and outputs the gate voltage signal according to the load output of the bi-directional converter when the clock signal is at a high level. Accordingly, the switching mode power supply achieves a hybrid of PWM and PFM, depending on the energy demand of the load output, for a fast transient response and a small voltage ripple whilst improving power efficiency over a wide load range.

  • Publication number: 20130163880
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a disparity search method for searching for a matching pixel block from a second image of a multi-view video. The matching pixel block corresponds to a given pixel block of a first image of the multi-view video; the first image and the second image are spatially adjacent to each other. First, a set of reference pixel blocks is selected from a set of reference images of the multi-view video to provide a set of reference disparity vectors. Then, a set of disparity vector predictors is prepared based on the set of reference disparity vectors, wherein the given pixel block's position and the set of disparity vector predictors define a set of candidate pixel blocks in the second image. Next, the set of candidate pixel blocks in the second image is searched for the matching pixel block.

  • Patent number: 8471296
Abstract: A method forms an eFuse structure that has a pair of adjacent semiconducting fins projecting from the planar surface of a substrate (in a direction perpendicular to the planar surface). The fins have planar sidewalls (perpendicular to the planar surface of the substrate) and planar tops (parallel to the planar surface of the substrate). The tops are positioned at distal ends of the fins relative to the substrate. An insulating layer covers the tops and the sidewalls of the fins and covers an intervening substrate portion of the planar surface of the substrate located between the fins. A metal layer covers the insulating layer. A pair of conductive contacts are connected to the metal layer at locations where the metal layer is adjacent the top of the fins.

  • Patent number: 8473873
Abstract: A method includes receiving data representing a layout of a DPT-layer of an integrated circuit generated by a place and route tool. The layout includes a plurality of polygons to be formed in the DPT-layer by a multi-patterning process. First and second ones of the plurality of polygons to be formed using first and second photomasks, respectively are identified. Any intervening polygons along a first path connecting the first polygon to the second polygon, and separator regions between adjacent polygons along the first path are identified. The separator regions have sizes less than a minimum threshold distance between polygons formed on the first photomask. The separator regions are counted. A multi-patterning conflict is identified, if the count of separator regions is even, prior to assigning all remaining ones of the plurality of polygons to the first or second masks.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for replacing partition units are disclosed. Generic and platform-specific drivers based on a driver model that specify a plurality of callbacks are disclosed. The drivers enable the replacement of partition units without the firmware and/or software of a computing device having to be recompiled for each platform. The plurality of callbacks provide access to a plurality of functions that are safe to use when operating system services are not available. The plurality of callbacks include, but are not limited to, initialization, memory transfer, and transfer processor state callbacks. The methods use the drivers to replace partition units. Preferably, partition units are replaced using platform-specific partition unit replacement (PUR) drivers that take advantage of platform-specific capabilities.
