  • Patent number: 5440906
Abstract: A vehicle steering wheel lock includes a body having a cylinder mounted therein, a first hook member securely attached to a first end of the body, and a second hook member movably attached to a second end of the body. The first end of the body includes a hole therein and an annular groove in an outer periphery thereof. The first hook member includes an engaging end with a second annular groove defined in an outer periphery thereof. A sleeve is mounted to the first end of the body and has a longitudinal bore, a first end securely mounted in the first annular groove, and a second end mounted to the end edge of the first end of the body. An elastic retainer ring has an inner diameter slightly less than that of the bore of the sleeve. The retainer ring is mounted between an end edge of the first end of the body and the second end of the sleeve and is received in the second annular groove in the first hook member.

  • Patent number: 5440907
Abstract: A vehicle steering wheel lock assembly includes a body having a base extending therefrom, a first hook member securely attached to a first side of the body, and a second hook member partially received in a second side of the body. A cylinder is removably received in the base. A lock piece is slidably received in the body and actuatable by the cylinder. The second hook member is releasably engageable with the lock piece and is movable in two directions of away from and toward the first hook member when the cylinder is in an unlocked position and is movable in only one of the two directions when the cylinder is in a locked position.

  • Patent number: 5398531
Abstract: A rotational housing assembly for a lock assembly includes a rotational housing, a spindle, and a core retainer. The rotational housing has a sleeve which is adapted to receive a core and defines an inner periphery. A driver is formed in and extends along a longitudinal direction of the inner periphery. The spindle is received in the sleeve to rotate with the rotational housing. The spindle includes a first end adapted to operate a door latch and a second end. A cutout is formed in the second end of the spindle and extends along a longitudinal direction of the spindle and defines a recess in one edge thereof. A driver slot engages with the driver in the sleeve to retain the spindle in the rotational housing. The core retainer is received in the sleeve to engage with the second end of the spindle and has first and second ends. A stop is formed at the second end of .the core retainer and engages with the recess in the spindle.

  • Patent number: 5177987
Abstract: A key-in-lever type door lock which can be installed on either a left hand or right hand door by a left-right reverse operation of a reverse plate. The lock comprises a lock assembly which regulates a uni-directional, 45-degree rotation of a handle thereof and a latch assembly which converts the 45-degree rotational movement to a retraction of a latch bolt. The lock is jimmy-proof, i.e., secure against improper manipulation, by the provision of a latch stop pivoted to the latch bolt and being movable together therewith. The latch stop, which has a catch end normally blocked by a retaining plate, is operationally pivotable about the latch bolt to release the blockage, thereby permitting a relative sliding movement between the latch stop and the retaining plate.

  • Patent number: 5149151
Abstract: An adjustable latch assembly used in a lever lock comprises a shell, a shelf, a rotator, an actuating arm, a positioning and pulling assembly, and a bolt. The shell is attachable to a door. The shelf has a first position and a second position within the shell. The rotator is mountable on the shelf. The actuating arm co-operates with the rotator, so as to be actuated by the rotator when the rotator rotates. The positioning and pulling assembly positions the shelf in the first position or the second position and pulls the bolt inward. The adjustable latch assembly has a first backset when the shelf is at the first position and a second backset when shelf is at a second position.

  • Patent number: 4930822
Abstract: A retention plate assembly for fixedly retaining a lock in a door. The lock is adapted to be mountable onto the retention plate assembly. The door for mounting the retention plate assembly has a bore defining an edge from which extends a pair of slots opposite to each other. A pair of holes are disposed adjacent to the bore. The retention plate assembly comprises a retention plate and a pair of bolts. The retention plate has a pair of tangential tabs, a pair of radial tabs and a pair of threaded through-holes. When the retention plate assembly is mounted onto the bore of the door, the tangential tabs bear against the edge of said bore and the radial tabs fit snugly within the slots of the door. The pair of bolts each have a threaded end of reduced diameter with respect to the diameter of the bolt. The bolt also has another end manipulatable for releasably engaging its threaded end to the threaded through-hole of the retention plate.

  • Patent number: 4921289
Abstract: A cylindrical lever type lock is disclosed having first and second spindle housings telescopically receiving an outer and inner spindle, respectively. The outer and inner spindles both have a protruding plate formed on one end for urging a bracket to pull a pole and therefore to open a door. An annular ring rotatably secured on an engaging pin is urgeable by a bar assembly from inside of the door to lock the outer spindle relative to the first spindle housing. An engaging pin, which is rotatable by a key, unlocks the blockage between the outer spindle and the first spindle housing. A pair of plates each having a pair of cutouts, a pair of oblique cutouts and a pair of triangular protrusions are securely mounted on opposite sides of the door to firmly support the first and second spindle housings in position.

  • Patent number: 4809526
Abstract: A cartridge of a panic proof lock comprising a pair of cartridge plates, a pair of slides, a pair of half-serrated rings, a collar and a rotary lever. The cartridge plates have two holes to accommodate two spindles of the lock and a flange perpendicular thereto to guide the movement of the slides. The slides which are inverted U-shaped with one limb inside toothed are oppositely disposed. The half-serrated rings with serration in opposite half circles are disposed inside the slides with the serrations engaging with the corresponding toothed limb of the corresponding slide. Inside each of the half-serrated ring, a pair of recesses are formed to receive the teeth of a collar disposed inside the half-serrated rings. Each recess of the half-serrated ring is larger than the corresponding tooth on the collar so that there is a 40 degree (20 degree for each direction) dead zone of rotation between the collar and the half-serrated rings.

  • Patent number: 4732023
Abstract: A modifiable cylinder which comprises a plug and a cylinder body. The plug fits into the cylinder body and has a keyway and a plurality of bottom pin holes which are disposed above and perpendicular to the keyway. Each of the bottom pin holes has a bottom pin. The cylinder body comprises a main chamber housing and a subchamber housing. The main chamber housing has a plurality of top pin holes, each of which has a spring and a top pin. In open position, the top pin holes are aligned with the bottom pin holes. The subchamber housing has a plurality of top pin holes, each of which has a spring, a top pin and several discs. When the plug is turned to the modifying position, the top pin holes are aligned with the bottom pin holes so that the discs can be moved into the bottom pin holes so as to modify the inner combination of the cylinder.
