Abstract: A computing system may include multiple computing devices. A file at a computing device may be accessed based on a reference file stored at the device that comprises a hash value of the content of the file. The hash value may be independent of the file location or file name and include a representation of the content of the file such that a given hash value is unique for given content. For example, the hash value may be generated using a hash function on the content of the file. The hash function may be generated by the hash function that reproducibly identifies the file based on the content of the file. In this manner, the reference file may be used to uniquely identify a file as well as serve as a basis for checking the integrity of files transmitted over a network from one computing device to another computing device.

Abstract: A method for analyzing a digital audio signal associated with a baby cry, comprising the steps of: (a) processing the digital audio signal using a spectral analysis to generate a spectral data; (b) processing the digital audio signal using a time-frequency analysis to generate a time-frequency characteristic; (c) categorizing the baby cry into one of a basic type and a special type based on the spectral data; (d) if the baby cry is of the basic type, determining a basic need based on the time-frequency characteristic and a predetermined lookup table; and (e) if the baby cry is of the special type, determining a special need by inputting the time-frequency characteristic into a pre-trained artificial neural network.

Abstract: An electronic vision-therapy apparatus includes a frame, a lens module and a control unit. The lens module includes first and second liquid crystal lenses. The control unit is for controlling the first and second liquid crystal lenses to cooperatively generate and display a light filtering pattern. The light filtering pattern has an opaque part and a plurality of transparent parts. The control unit configures a part of the first liquid crystal lens that corresponds to the opaque part to allow only light having a first polarization to pass therethrough, and configures a part of the second liquid crystal lens that corresponds to the opaque part to allow only light having a second polarization orthogonal to the first polarization to pass therethrough.

Abstract: An interactive image display method is to be performed by an interactive device and includes steps of rendering a first interactive image that has a background graphic image overlaid with an overlaying graphic image in a manner that the background graphic image is hidden from view by the overlaying graphic image, generating a triggering instruction in response to user operation, in response to receipt of the triggering instruction, rendering a second interactive image in which a portion of the background graphic image is revealed, and after a predetermined time has elapsed subsequent to receipt of the triggering instruction, rendering a third interactive image in which the background graphic image is hidden from view by the overlaying graphic image.

Abstract: The present invention provides a mechanism for detecting and resolving Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) comprising: requesting a server device by a client device for the APIs supported by the server; and responding by the server with a list containing the identifiers of the APIs supported by the server, wherein each of the identifiers contains the network address from which the corresponding API definition document can be obtained. The proposed mechanism provides a systematic way to establish the consensus on API definitions between a client and a server even if the client, the server, and the API definitions are each developed by a different party. Therefore, this invention allows independently developed devices to be easily integrated into a system, in which a client device can automatically and correctly determine the APIs for communicating with a server device at runtime.

Abstract: A method for managing consumption of heterogeneous resources includes: receiving resource consumption information of a target; calculating a total energy consumption value that is associated with the target based on the resource consumption information of the target; generating a high consumption alert when the calculated total energy consumption value is higher than a first predetermined threshold value; and generating a low consumption alert when the calculated total energy consumption value is not higher than a second predetermined threshold value that is lower than the first predetermined threshold value.

Abstract: A method for soldering an electronic component to a substrate is provided. The method includes the steps of forming a metal layer on the substrate; applying a solder material on the metal layer; and performing a thermal process to transfer the solder material into a solder joint so as to connect the electronic component with the substrate. During the thermal process, a portion of the metal layer is introduced into the solder joint, thereby elevating the eutectoid temperature of the solder joint. This invention also provides an electronic device made by this method.

Thereby, the buckle slides along the linear guide grooves of the lower cover. One inner end of the buckle has engaging teeth which protrude downward and extend inward so that the engaging teeth are exactly engaged to the tooth bank at a lower end of the front seat. The user can press the buckle from a lateral side of the skate so that the engaging teeth of the buckle separates from the tooth bank; and thus the size of the skate is adjusted.

The buckle structure is formed by a round lower cover, a buckle, and a teeth bank. An upper side of the lower cover has a confining seat and the confining seat has guide grooves at two sides thereof. Thereby, the buckle moves straightly along the guide grooves of the lower cover. One inner end of the buckle has an engaging teeth which protrudes downwards and extends inwards so that the engaging teeth is exactly engaged to the teeth bank at a lower end of the front seat. The user can press the buckle from a lateral side of the skateboard shoe so that the engaging teeth of the buckle separates from the teeth bank; and thus the size of the skateboard shoe is adjusted.

Abstract: Connecting structure for a hammerhead and a grip. The grip is made by plastic injection molding and formed with a tunnel in which a connecting bar of the hammerhead is inserted. A wedge retainer is fitted from rear end of the grip into the tunnel and then the connecting bar of the hammerhead is inserted into a split of the wedge retainer and retained therein. Therefore, the connecting bar of the hammerhead is easily and firmly connected with the grip by the wedge retainer.

Abstract: EXT2 polypeptides and DNA (RNA) encoding such enzyme and a procedure for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques is disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for utilizing such EXT2 in the development of treatments for to hereditary multiple exotoses and cancers, such as chondrosarcoma, among others, are also disclosed. Also disclosed are diagnostic assays for detecting diseases related to mutations in the nucleic acid sequences and altered concentrations of the polypeptides.
