Abstract: A photo-detecting device includes a first semiconductor layer with a first dopant, a light-absorbing layer, a second semiconductor layer, and a semiconductor contact layer. The second semiconductor layer is located on the first semiconductor layer and has a first region and a second region, the light absorbing layer is located between the first semiconductor layer and the second semiconductor layer and has a third region and a fourth region, the semiconductor contact layer contacts the first region. The first region includes a second dopant and a third dopant, the second region includes second dopant, and the third region includes third dopant. The semiconductor contact layer has a first thickness greater than 50 ? and smaller than 1000 ?.

Abstract: A ball racket includes a head frame for racket stringing, a shaft unit including first and second tubes non-rotatably fitted to each other to be moved relative to each other along an axis, an actuator disposed within the first tube and having an actuating end and a shank body, an expandable shell disposed between the actuating end and the first tube, and a force transmitting mechanism disposed between the expandable shell and the first tube. Counterclockwise rotation of the actuating end causes the expandable shell and thus the first tube to expand radially so as to generate increased friction between the first and second tubes to thereby guard against relative axial movement between the first and second tubes. Clockwise rotation of the actuating end permits the first tube to axially move relative to the second tube so as to adjust the length of the shaft unit.

Abstract: A baseball bat includes a tubular member having a slide rail, a tubular hitting portion sleeved on the tubular member, a handle inserted telescopically in the tubular member, and a locking unit having a first locking member provided on the handle and a second locking member disposed nonrotatably within the tubular member and slidable along the slide rail. The second locking member includes a main body having a tapering hole and an internal thread. The first locking member has an externally threaded tapering portion insertable into the tapering hole and engageable with the internal thread. The main body locks the handle against movement and permits the same to move relative to the tubular member when the externally threaded tapering portion is rotated threadedly in the tapering hole in an inward or outward direction.

Abstract: A telescopic batting training apparatus includes an upright support, and a central base unit. The upright support includes a lower support post, an upper support post telescopically connected to the lower support post, a locking unit for restricting telescopic movement of the upper support post relative to the lower support post, and a ball receptacle mounted on top of the upper support post. The base unit includes a tubular member sleeved around the lower support post, and a plurality of radial legs having inner ends pivotally connected to the tubular member and outer ends opposite to the inner ends. The radial legs are turnable between a stretching position, in which the outer ends move away from the lower support post, and a folding position, in which the outer ends move toward the lower support post.

Abstract: A process for making an EVA-based foam article includes the steps of: prefoaming an EVA-based foamable material to form a preformed foam; placing the preformed foam into a mold cavity of a mold; further foaming the preformed foam to form an intermediate foam body; and rapidly cooling the mold to room temperature to permit the intermediate foam body to form a foam product that has a skin portion and an inner portion enclosed by the skin portion and having a density less than that of the skin portion.

Abstract: A baseball bat includes a tubular bat body with a resilient member, a ball-pushing unit which is disposed within the bat body, a gripping rod that retains the ball-pushing unit within the bat body, and an adjustment member that is coupled with the gripping rod. The resilient member is formed with a retaining projection that engages a hole in the ball-pushing unit. The resilient member can be actuated to separate the projection from the hole so that the ball-pushing unit is biased by a spring to move quickly in the bat body, thereby shooting a ball from an opening in an end of the bat body. When it is desired to perform a subsequent ball serving action, an adjustment member is pulled out from the bat body so as to engage the retaining projection with the hole, after which the adjustment member is returned to its normal position on the bat body.

Abstract: A body exerciser includes a base frame with two support rods provided with first coupling members, and a handle frame with two bendable handle rods provided with second coupling members that are rotatable relative to the first coupling members. Each of two retaining sets is disposed between inner engaging walls of the first and second coupling members to arrest relative rotation in a tightened state. Only in a loosened state when the inner engaging walls have been brought away from each other will relative rotation between the first and second coupling members be permitted. Each of two biasing members is disposed between the inner engaging walls to bias the second coupling members to move away from the first coupling members. Each of two tightening rods is inserted into the coupling members, and has a pivot end extending outwardly of the respective second coupling member. A locking member is pivoted on the pivot end and has first and second cam surfaces.

Abstract: A blade member of a hockey stick defines a profile, and includes an elongated blade body having a front toe end, a rear heel end, a pair of attachment walls which laterally oppose each other and which respectively extend from the rear heel end toward the front toe end, two flange units that project outwardly and laterally from bottoms of the attachment walls to define two accommodating spaces above the flange units, and a connecting portion that extends integrally, rearwardly and upwardly from the rear heel end. A display sheet is disposed in one of the accommodating spaces to abut against one of the attachment walls, has an outer abutment face with a mark.

Abstract: A sound-producing apparatus includes an elongated hollow bat-like member having a striking section, a handle section, and an intermediate section interconnecting the striking section and the handle section. A closure member is formed integrally at the upper end of the striking section. The intermediate section has a plurality of pleats. A plug member is fixed to the lower end of the handle section. A rod member is received in the handle section and connected to the plug member in order to prevent a rigid ball from entering the handle section.
