Patent number: 7470276Abstract: A multifunctional forceps set which integrates two important surgical procedures of incision and ligation into a continuous working procedure. The forceps set is co-used with two loop ligatures formed of braided sutures and transfigured from a surgeon's knot. In use, the loop ligatures are side by side loaded in the forceps mouth of the forceps and controlled by the forceps to minify the size of the loop and accomplish ligation function. The forceps set is developed from consolidation of surgical scalpel, forceps and device simulating finger's functions. Also, the forceps set can rapidly perform the procedures of double grasping, incision between grasping, proper ligating divided pedicles and cutting residual sutures of post-ligation. The forceps set enables surgeons to use familiar technique in a challenging operative field such as endoscopic surgery.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2003Date of Patent: December 30, 2008Inventor: Fung-Chao Tu

Publication number: 20050197620Abstract: A safety trocar device designed for safe abdominal endoscope operation, including a trocar assembly and a bracket. The trocar assembly includes a sleeve, a trocar and an insufflation needle. A bottom end of the trocar assembly has a thrust section. In use, the trocar assembly is mounted on a suspension arm of the bracket and the bracket is fixed on an operation table. The bracket has an elevation arm under the suspension arm for hooking the abdominal wall of a patient. In operation, an operator continuously turns the trocar assembly with one hand and the abdominal wall is gradually elevated by the elevation arm, whereby the thrust section penetrates through the abdominal wall. Accordingly, the trocar assembly will only drill through the elevated abdominal wall without touching the organs in the abdominal cavity. The trocar assembly is provided with penetration indicator for the operator to judge whether the trocar assembly has truly penetrated through the abdominal wall.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 2, 2004Publication date: September 8, 2005Inventor: Fung-Chao Tu
