  • Publication number: 20150263876
    Abstract: One transmission circuit for spectrally precoded orthogonal frequency division multiple access with interleaved subcarrier allocation includes a data generator, a correlative precoder, a subcarrier allocator and an OFDM modulator. The feature of the correlative spectral precoder is a precoding matrix having a lower triangular band matrix with a correlative bandwidth B. When the transmitter circuit satisfies a single-user orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) protocol, the baseband power spectral density function S(f) of the transmission signal s(t) satisfies a following equation: S ? ( f ) = ? 2 ? T 2 ? ? u = 0 U - 1 ? sinc 2 ? ( z n ) ? ? ? k = 0 ? ? Q k ? ( 1 + 2 - I ) k ? z u - k ? D m ( k ) ? 2 wherein zu is a linear function of the frequency f, and Dm(k)=?n=0P?1Gn,mnk is correlative to the precoding matrix G; and when the precoding matrix G satisfies a constraint: for all m?{0, 1, . . . , M?1}, k?{0, 1, . . .

  • Patent number: 7974358
Abstract: An orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system provided for communication includes an OFDM transmitter and an OFDM receiver. The OFDM transmitter may be configured to transmit OFDM signals through a communication channel and may include a channel encoder configured to encode a plurality of information bits and an interleaver configured to interleave the channel-encoded information bits. The OFDM transmitter may also include a mapper configured to map the interleaved channel-encoded information bits into mapped multi-level symbols. The OFDM transmitter may also include a dispersive encoder that is configured to dispersively encode the mapped symbols. The OFDM receiver may be configured to receive the transmitted OFDM signals and to decode the received OFDM signals iteratively based on soft decision methods.

  • Publication number: 20070133706
Abstract: A method for correlatively encoding is used to improve spectrum performance, particularly for rectangular-pulse-shaped OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing) signals no matter whether cyclic prefix or zero padding is added to the OFDM signals or not. In accordance with the method for correlatively encoding according to the present invention, OFDM signals can achieve high spectrum efficiency. In addition, the attenuation rate of signal sidelobes in spectrum gets faster, which prevents signal power from leaking out of the bandwidth, and thereby avoids interfering with signals of adjacent channels.

  • Patent number: 7158576
Abstract: An orthogonally-multiplexed orthogonally-amplitude-modulated (OMOAM) method is disclosed. The OMOAM signal is constituted by orthogonally multiplexing M component signals, each constructed by a data-chosen group of L orthogonal pulse-amplitude-modulated basis signals. A generalized signal model is proposed to characterize the OMOAM signal in a unified way such that the generalized signal model contains a multitude of new modulations. A generalized optimum receiver for coherently demodulating OMOAM signals is developed and analyzed in terms of the bit error probability for the additive white Gaussian noise channel. The spectral characteristics of the OMOAM signals constructed from various time-limited and band-limited basis sets are studied in terms of the fractional out-of-band power containment. Several general trends of error and spectral performance characteristics are exploited.
