Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for enabling a smart automatic skip mode during playback of a content item. A content item is generated for output at a first time at a computing device, and input associated with navigating the content item is received. Metadata associated with a plurality of segments of the content item is identified and, based on the input and the metadata, a segment to skip is identified. The segment to skip is skipped, and the content item is generated for output at a second time.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for recommending and dynamically scheduling content. A time when a request to consume a content item is likely to be received is identified and an identifier of the content item is displayed on a device. Prior to the identified time, an option to consume, at the identified time, the content item is also displayed on the device. In response to the option being selected, the device stops displaying the identifier of the content item until the identified time.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating a reply to a query are provided. A query about an event in a content recording during playback of the content recording is received. A type of the event based on the query is determined. A playback position in a timeline of the content recording is determined. Based on the type of the event, an event distribution table is obtained, the table comprising one or more event identifiers and one or more corresponding occurrence times for the one or more event identifiers in the timeline of the content recording. The playback position of the content recording to the one or more occurrence times is compared. A reply to the query is generated, for aural or visual presentation, the reply being based on a result of the comparing, the reply comprising data about at least one event corresponding to the one or more event identifiers.

Abstract: Presentation of content on a display device is adaptively modified based on the apparent size of a content area in which the content is presented. A distance between the first user and the display device is determined, as well as an actual size of the content area in which the content is being presented. Based on the distance and the actual size of the content area, an apparent size of the content area is calculated, and presentation of the content is modified based on the apparent size of the content area.

Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamically routing notifications based on device statuses are disclosed herein. For instance, a notification may be generated for a user account corresponding to an application that is installed on a plurality of devices. A system identifies a status of each of the plurality of devices and uses the status of each of the plurality of devices to select a particular device to receive the notification. The system then transmits the notification to the selected particular device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for identifying related media content items. First media content item is outputted on a device. A user interface input requesting media content related to the first media content item is received. Metadata is accessed for a portion of the first media content item within a predetermined time period away from a pause position of the first media content item to identify topic keyword. An offer to interrupt the first media content item to output content related to the topic keyword is displayed. In response to offer's acceptance, a portion of an identified related media content item that is associated with the identified topic keyword is identified. The portion of the identified related media content item is transmitted for display while the media content is paused. The device then resumes displaying the media content item.

Abstract: Systems and methods for efficient management of an audio/video conferences is disclosed. The method includes receiving an audio question from a first user of a plurality of users connected to a conference, recording the audio question and preventing an immediate transmission of the audio question to the plurality of users connected to the conference, analyzing an audio portion of the conference to identify a time for transmitting the audio question to the plurality of users connected to the conference, and transmitting the audio question to the plurality of users at the identified time.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining, based on recommendations provided by users that have consumed a media asset, which consumption options may be configured on a media device such that when configured enhance the user viewing experience for a specific media asset. The method includes accessing comments posted by other users that have consumed the media asset. The comments are analyzed to determine a consumption option recommendation. If the number of comments meet a threshold value, then the system either automatically configures the media device or configures the media device upon user approval with the recommended consumption option. The recommendation to configure a consumption option on the media device is made only if the recommendation is supported by the media device. The system also detects through audio and image analysis which users are consuming the media asset and accordingly configures the consumption options to their preferences.

Media data of content is analyzed during playback, and a number of audio signatures are identified. The audio signature is stored, along with a timestamp corresponding to a playback position at which the audio signature begins, in association with an identifier of the particular subject. Upon receiving a command, icons representing each of a number of audio signatures at or near the current playback position are displayed. Upon receiving user selection of an icon corresponding to a particular signature, a portion of the content corresponding to the audio signature is played back or a search is performed for content related to the signature represented by the selected icon.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for providing subtitles for a media content item. Subtitles are obtained, using control circuitry, for the media content item. Control circuitry determines whether a character component of the subtitles should be replaced by an image component. In response to determining that the character component of the subtitles should be replaced by an image component, control circuitry selects, from memory, an image component corresponding to the character component. Control circuitry replaces the character component of the subtitles by the image component to generate modified subtitles.

The device then pauses the displaying the first media content item. The first portion of the identified first related media content item that is associated with the identified first keyword is displayed. The device then resumes generating for display the media content item.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for inserting emoticons within a media asset based on an audio portion of the media asset. Each audio portion of a media asset is associated with a respective part of speech, and an emotion corresponding to the audio portion for the media asset is determined. A corresponding emoticon is identified based on the determined emotion in the audio portion and causing to be presented at the location within the media asset.

A number of media signatures representing portions of a plurality of other content items may have been previously identified and stored. Abstract: Systems and methods for determining whether an alert should be generated, a delay period should be configured, or both, for a message composed in a messaging application or received by it, are disclosed. The methods determine a relationship score between a sender electronic device and a recipient electronic device. One or more analysis factors, which are determined based on the relationship score, are used to analyze the content of the message to determine whether the content is appropriate based on the relationship score and the applied factors. If the content is not appropriate, then an alert warning the sender of the inappropriate content is generated. A transmission delay period that is dynamically changed based on the relationship score and factors is embedded into the message such that the message may not be delivered until the expiration of such delay period. Emergency-related content is transmitted without an alert or delay.

The VR system determines whether the first perspective correlates with the preference for content by at least a predetermined amount.
