    Abstract: An airway device for sealing against the laryngeal opening includes an air tube with proximal and distal ends and a sealing member attached to the distal end. The sealing member has a distal portion with a pair of opposing lateral flanges for engaging the cricoid cartilage to laterally align the sealing member with respect to the laryngeal inlet. The sealing member has a compressible anterior surface that contacts and seals against the laryngeal inlet. A tubular extension of the distal end of the air tube projects through and beyond the compressible anterior surface. The sealing member has a pronounced sigmoid shape having a lower section which, together with the tubular extension, creates a hook that provides an end point for accurate cephalad-caudad depth placement of the sealing member against the rim of the laryngeal inlet.

When the segments are attached together, they ratchet relative other so as to lock their positions in place.

    Abstract: Color-containing alkanolamines or alkyleneamines, having color numbers of up to 100 PtCo or higher, can be treated with polymeric solid acidic catalysts at elevated temperatures. Perfluorinated ion-exchange polymers in the acid form may be used as the polymeric solid acidic catalyst. In the presence of added water, these polymeric solid acidic catalysts produce decolorized alkanolamines or alkyleneamines having color numbers of 20 PtCo or less. The process of decolorization can be carried out in batch or continuous mode processes thus providing low cost, high quality and high purity end products.

    Abstract: A process and a system are disclosed for sorption heating and cooling which comprise at least 2 sorption zones. Each sorption zone comprises a heat transfer zone and an adsorption zone containing a sorbent such that the heat transfer zone is in intimate thermal contact with the adsorption zone to permit an essentially uniform temperature lengthwise through the sorption zone and thereby employ essentially all of the sorbent in the process at all times. The process comprises passing heat transfer streams such as a hot stream, a cold stream, and a recirculation stream through the heat transfer zone and routing a refrigerant through the adsorption zone of each sorption zone to affect a desorption stroke, an intermediate stroke and an adsorption stroke in the adsorption zone. Rotary and multi-port valves are employed to circulate the refrigerant and the heat transfer streams. The resulting sorption cooling process achieves a significantly higher coefficient of performance than the prior art.

The drawing device contains at least one flexible guide bendable into any desired shape and having an outer circumference wall and an inner circumference wall, at least one solid wheel disk which is rotatable about the inner circumference wall of the flexible guide, at least one hole through the solid wheel disk through which a drawing implement is positionable, wherein the solid wheel disk is rotatable about the inner circumference wall or outer circumference wall of the flexible guide when the drawing implement is positioned through the hole positioned through the solid wheel disk, thereby forming a patterned drawing. The flexible guide is made of a soft plastic which preferably surrounds a flexible bar. As the wheel disk revolves around the inner surface of the flexible guide, the teeth of the wheel disk enter the surface of the flexible guide at right angles to lock into the surface of the flexible guide.

The properties of the foams can be controlled by the concentration and physical properties of the polymer, and by the size and properties of the microballoons. The suggested solute polymers are non-toxic and soluble in environmentally safe solvents such as water or low-molecular weight alcohols.

    Abstract: A low density, open-celled microcellular carbon foam is disclosed which is prepared by dissolving a carbonizable polymer or copolymer in a solvent, pouring the solution into a mold, cooling the solution, removing the solvent, and then carbonizing the polymer or copolymer in a high temperature oven to produce the foam. If desired, an additive can be introduced in order to produce a doped carbon foam, and the foams can be made isotropic by selection of a suitable solvent. The low density, microcellular foams produced by this process are particularly useful in the fabrication of inertial confinement fusion targets, but can also be used as catalysts, absorbents, and electrodes.
