Publication number: 20240089741Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for assigning and managing RF communication links between ground-based stations and airborne assets. In one or more examples, a pilot or other user of the systems and methods described herein can generate and transmit a flight plan to a spectrum management system. Additionally, or alternatively, the pilot or use can also transmit additional information to the spectrum management system such as the type of aircraft/radio configuration that they will be using during a flight, and a request for a certain amount of data throughput that they want to have access to during the flight. In one or more examples, upon receiving the flight plan and/or information from the pilot, the spectrum management system can proceed to match the user's desired flight plan with one or more RF spectrum resources for the airborne radio of the pilot's UAV to use during their planned flight.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Osama Hussein TARRAF, Alistair Charles Peter BRADEN, Tamara Lynne CASEY, Shane David CHAPMAN, Michael Robert GAGNE

Patent number: 9175562Abstract: A rotary engine is provided. The engine has a main body that fits within a housing to form an annular chamber. A piston moves within the annular chamber along an annular path. A door assembly operates to block and unblock the annular chamber, opening to unblock the chamber as the piston approaches the door and closes to block the chamber after the piston has travelled past the door. A temporary combustion chamber is formed between the closed door and the piston as the piston moves away from the door.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2012Date of Patent: November 3, 2015Assignee: Breville Pty LimitedInventor: Raymond Charles Casey

Patent number: 8633734Abstract: A bi-directional comparator compares two input signals and applies a hysteresis level to the smaller input signal only after the output signal switches logical states and when the two input signals are within a predetermined range of each other. In one embodiment, the hysteresis applied to the smaller input signal is removed when the two input signals are no longer within the predetermined range of each other.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2012Date of Patent: January 21, 2014Assignee: Micrel, Inc.Inventors: Charles A. Casey, Richard Zhu, Cameron Jackson

Patent number: 7898830Abstract: An apparatus, such as a Buck converter system, for generating an output voltage while at the same time monitoring whether an overload or over current condition occurs at the output, and protecting the system if the overload or over current condition occurs. The apparatus includes a first circuit adapted to monotonically change a control voltage from a first voltage (e.g., approximately ground potential) towards a second voltage (e.g., a reference voltage VREF); a second circuit adapted to generate the output voltage based on the control voltage; a third circuit adapted to detect whether a magnitude of an output current exceeds a current threshold; and a fourth circuit adapted to change the control voltage from the second voltage towards the first voltage in response to the third circuit detecting that the magnitude of the output current exceeds the current threshold.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2008Date of Patent: March 1, 2011Assignee: Maxim Integrated Products, Inc.Inventors: Charles A. Patent number: 6998828Abstract: In one embodiment, a power supply controller of a power supply system uses an algorithm to reduce the number of drive pulses to the output transistors under light load conditions. The algorithm groups the drive pulses to the output transistors into sets and removes some of the drive pulses for each set drive pulses issued by the controller. Each successive set removes additional drive pulses.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2004Date of Patent: February 14, 2006Assignee: Semiconductor Components Industries, L.L.C.Inventors: Charles A. Casey, Daniel Connolly, Brant Johnson

Patent number: 6452695Abstract: An adapter device is provided for connection to a printer and an image input device, such as a document scanner or digital camera, that enables the printer to operate as a digital copier for image data received from the image input device. The adapter device includes an input/output controller, memory and a processor. The input/output controller controls the exchange of information with the printer and with the image input device. The memory buffers input device driver software for the image input device and printer driver software for the printer, and also stores image data output by the image input device. The processor is responsive to commands made from a control panel to initiate operation of the image input device under control of the input device driver software. The processor also processes image data from the image input device under control of the printer driver software and generates printer data to be printed by the printer.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1998Date of Patent: September 17, 2002Assignee: Lexmark International, Inc.Inventors: Ronald Charles Casey, Thomas Anthony Knight, Paul Michael Ramey, Ronald William Schlentner, Timothy Wayne Tillotson, Stephen Ray Wilson, Aaron Charles Yoder, Samuel William Gardiner
