  • Patent number: 4950005
Abstract: Mortise lock has a guardbolt which, when depressed, moves a lever inside the lock. The end of the lever moves a vertically sliding interlock slide from a first position in which its fits in a recess in the deadbolt and blocks the throwing of the deadbolt, to a second position. In the second position the slide clears the recess and permits the deadbolt to be extended. This protects against the extension of the deadbolt unless the door is closed.
