  • Patent number: 4656222
Abstract: Water soluble salts of acrylic acid are polymerized and co-polymerized with acrylamide by an inverse emulsion polymerization in a water/hydrocarbon emulsion without catalyst to yield high molecular weight polymers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 16, 1985
Date of Patent: April 7, 1987
    Assignee: Celanese Corporation
    Inventor: Charles A. DeFazio
  • Patent number: 4056503
Abstract: New emulsion polymers comprising vinyl acetate-acrylate or methacrylate emulsion polymer containing in the polymer an .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated acid ester of a polyol. For example, pentaerythritol tri- and tetra-acrylate, trimethylolpropane triacrylate, hexanediol diacrylate, etc.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 3992276
Abstract: An ultraviolet curable coating composition having improved clarity and resin compatability is prepared by co-reacting an acrylate or methacrylate co-polymer containing hydroxy and carboxy groups with added polyol and maleic anhydride to form an unsaturated polyester, and then blending the unsaturated polyester with polyunsaturated monomers, monounsaturated monomers and a photoinitiator, all of which will cure when exposed to ultraviolet radiation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 17, 1975
Date of Patent: November 16, 1976
    Assignee: Celanese Corporation
Inventors: Thomas M. Powanda, Charles B. Rybny, Charles A. DeFazio
