  • Patent number: 7081053
Abstract: A slidable grip (20, 100, 200) for one hand is provided on the shaft (12, 312) of a modified golf club (10, 200, 300) to enable a golf trainee to separate his or her hands progressively during a backswing and being them back together progressively during the downswing. This technique imprints proper swing mechanics in the mind of the trainee to be recalled reflexively in executing a conventional golf swing with the hands in a fixed grip relationship on the handle (14, 114) of a golf club.

  • Patent number: 6663546
Abstract: An abdominal exercise device (10) includes a first (11) and second (12) fluid impermeable, opposed sheets that are sealed along an outline seal (31) to define a selectively inflatable chamber (13, 16, 19) therebetween. A first (33) and second (36) strap are each connected to one of the first (11) and second (12) sheets. A plurality of hand holds (37, 40, 43, 55, 58, 60) are formed along the first and second straps (33, 36) at predetermined varying distances from the chamber (13, 16, 19). To use this device (10), the chamber (13, 16, 19) is placed under the user's head in contact with the neck and upper back and supporting the same. One of the user's hands holds on the first strap. The first strap (33) and second strap (36) are pulled sufficiently to support the user's head, neck and upper back.

  • Patent number: 6599200
Abstract: The present invention provides a dynamic swing training device and method for progressively conditioning muscle memory to achieve a consistently repeatable and proper golf swing. The golf swing training device of the present invention in its preferred embodiment is similar to a conventional golf club with an elongated shaft and at one end, but modified to provide a unique dynamic hand, arm and body action during the swing. In the case of a right-handed golfer, the device handle is grasped by the left hand of the trainee, and a slidable grip is provided for grasping by the right hand of the trainee. The slidable grip is slidable longitudinally with respect to the shaft so that the right hand moves progressively down the shaft during the backswing and then progressively back into proximity with the left hand during the downswing.

  • Publication number: 20020128085
Abstract: A weighted object has a shaft engagement member having a grip end, a head end, an interior, and an exterior. The engagement member has a channel integral to the engagement member. The channel is disposed within the interior of the engagement member and the channel spans between the grip end and the head end. The shaft engagement member has a slot integral to the engagement member spanning from an open end adjacent to the exterior and a channel end adjacent to the interior.

  • Patent number: 6217483
Abstract: An exercise apparatus includes a base and an elongated upright pillar connected to the base. The pillar has a plurality of stop positions therealong. A surrounding member is slidably mounted on the pillar and is sufficiently oversized to permit relative lengthwise slidable movement therealong. An elongated horizontal support bar is fixedly connected to the surrounding member. The horizontal support bar and the surrounding member is moveable between an upper and lower limit positions on the pillar. The surrounding member is selectively fixed to the pillar at the stop positions. The surrounding member slides relative to the pillar between stop positions. A lifting force is applied to the surrounding member by a mechanical lifting aid to assist the surrounding member when sliding relative to the pillar.

  • Patent number: 5820530
Abstract: An aquatic exercise device includes two substantially identical flexible sheets of gas impermeable material. The sheets are sealed together to form at least two separate variably inflatable chambers having a safety valve disposed in each chamber to inflate, deflate or close the chamber. Four different embodiments of the aquatic exercise device, a cuff, a belt, a head gear and a flex device, may be used together or separately. The inflatable chambers of the aquatic exercise devices are adjusted individually to place substantially all patients in the optimal biomechanical positions while simultaneously preventing the undesirable migration of the device with respect to the body.

  • Patent number: 5090404
Abstract: An ankle support is disclosed which includes an underliner extending about the wearer's leg at a point above the ankle joint and forming a main body for the ankle support. An upper strap extends about the underliner at a point above the ankle joint and is adjustable in tension. An upright strap is secured to the underliner and this upright strap extends downwardly on the medial side of the wearer's leg, under his arch and upwardly along the lateral side of the wearer's leg, where it is secured to the upper strap. A diagonal strap is secured to the upright strap and the underliner on the medial side of the wearer's leg and extends upwardly and forwardly across the wearer's ankle, and around the lateral side of the wearer's leg to be joined to the upper strap. This construction not only supports the ankle joint against inversion sprains, but provides support for the arch and the plantar fascia.

  • Patent number: 4729370
Abstract: An ankle support is provided with an underliner having multi-directional stretch which fits over the wearer's foot in the manner of a sock and extends to a point above the ankle. A non-stretch lateral strap is secured to the underliner at a point below the ankle joint and extends upwardly to the top of the underliner, where it is inelastically secured, with provision being made for adjustment of its tension. A non-stretch medial strap is inelastically connected to the lateral strap therebelow. The medial strap extends underneath the foot and up the opposite side thereof, and it is inelastically secured to the leg near the top of the underliner, with provision being made for adjustment of its tension. The medial strap thereby supports the wearer's arch and, in combination with the lateral strap, supports the ligaments of the ankle joint and provides a "heel lock", to limit and balance the lateral movement of the ankle joint.
