  • Patent number: 11660671
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a planet gear or a sun gear of a gearbox of a wind turbine includes forming a base of the planet gear via at least one of casting or forging. The base of the planet gear includes an inner circumferential surface and an outer circumferential surface. Therefore, at least one of the inner circumferential surface or the outer circumferential surface of the planet gear includes a plurality of net or near-net gear teeth. The method also includes applying a coating material to at least a portion of the base of the gear and at least a portion of the plurality of gear teeth of the gear via an additive manufacturing process so as to increase a hardness of the portions of the base and the plurality of gear teeth that includes the coating material.

Date of Patent: May 30, 2023
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Aaron Wertz, Raed Zuhair Hasan, Adam Daniel Minadeo, Souvik Porel, Ganesh Raut, Jeremy Charles Ridge

  • Patent number: 5846461
Abstract: A novel polyurethane foam is shown which uses ground vehicle tires as a filler material. A method of manufacturing a carpet pad using the novel polyurethane composition is also shown. A frame is provided to which is mounted a conveyor belt. The conveyor belt feeds a first liner having an exposed surface of the polyurethane foam along a conveyor path from a forward end to a rearward end. A foam spray assembly is connected to a conventional uncured polymeric foam supply having a spray nozzle mounted adjacent to the forward end of the conveyor path. The spray nozzle dispenses uncured, resilient polymeric foam as a generally uniform layer on a surface of the first liner of previously cured polyurethane. A second conveyor belt, parallel to the first conveyor belt, feeds a second liner sheet along the conveyor path so that the second liner sheet is positioned over the layers of foam laminate.

  • Patent number: 4554295
Abstract: A process for preparing a predominately closed cell foam having an improved load bearing resiliency together with the improved polyurethane foam product, the process comprising co-reacting a fluid high-solids polymer/polyol and an organic polyisocyanate in the presence of an organo-tin catalyst, a tertiary amine catalyst, a blowing agent, a silicone-oxyalkylene surfactant and a critical amount of a filled diorganosilicone oil anti-foaming agent.
