Abstract: A jacketed steam humidification apparatus includes an elongated steam dispersion tube having discharge orifices for the release of steam, and an elongated jacket defining a jacket passageway in contact with the dispersion tube so that steam can flow along the jacket passageway to maintain the dispersion tube in a heated condition, where the jacket has one or more escape passages to allow a portion of the steam and other gases in the jacket passageway to escape from the jacket passageway.

Abstract: A method of encoding time-discrete audio signals comprises the steps of weighting the time-discrete audio signal by means of window functions overlapping each other so as to form blocks, the window functions producing blocks of a first length for signals varying weakly with time and blocks of a second length for signals varying strongly with time. A start window sequence is selected for the transition from windowing with blocks of the first length to windowing with blocks of the second length, whereas a stop window sequence is selected for the opposite transition. The start window sequence is selected from at least two different start window sequences having different lengths, whereas the stop window sequence is selected from at least two different stop window sequences having different lengths. A method of decoding blocks of encoded audio signals selects a suitable inverse transformation as well as a suitable synthesis window as a reaction to side information associated with each block.

Abstract: A wood thickness attachment for a jointer planer that has an angle/wood guide and cutter roller is provided. The attachment is attached and adjusted to the angle/wood guide and includes a roller guide that will engage a piece of wood which can be cut by the cutter roller and modified wood thickness attachment, leveling and adjustment features are built into the roller guide to compensate for various height thicknesses of the piece of wood.

Abstract: A non-freezing catalyst solution carries a platinum group metal compound admixed with an antifreeze compound which is blocked from reaction therewith by a blocking agent. The blocking agent is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen chloride and lithium chloride. All of the materials are soluble in solution at room temperature.

Abstract: A conventional telephone handset transmitter is given a modified (improved) output response by providing an acoustic resistance path to and from the confined air chamber formed between the frame and the diaphragm of the transmitter, the acoustic resistance being less than conventional, for example less than 40 ohms a maximum and approaching zero as a minimum. More than one aperture can be provided, and a tube may surround an aperture to provide some inertance to air flow.

The dialkyldihalosilane derivatives are prepared by adding a base such as triethylamine slowly to a mixture of 7ACA or 7ADCA and a dialkyldihalosilane.
