  • Patent number: 8440126
Abstract: A carrier mold having prongs that produces shaped tampons is provided. A carrier mold comprising an outer surface, an inner surface, a first end, a second end opposite the first end, a body, and two or more prongs, each prong having a proximal base and a distal end; wherein at least one prong is in partial contact with at least one other prong; wherein the inner surface defines an inner cavity for producing a shaped tampon; wherein the inner cavity is structured to define or mirror the desired shape of the shaped tampon; and wherein the shaped tampon has a length and comprises various perimeters along its length. A method of forming a shaped tampon using the carrier mold is also provided.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 8183025
Abstract: A Unique Solenopsis invicta viruse (SINV2) have been identified and its genome sequenced. Oligonucleotide primers have been developed using the isolated nucleic acid sequences of the SINV2. The virus is used as a biocontrol agent for control of fire ants.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 7, 2011
Date of Patent: May 22, 2012

Inventors: Steven M. Valles, Charles A. Strong, Yoshifumi Hashimoto
  • Patent number: 8137331
Abstract: A tampon showing improved leakage protection through improved expansion characteristics is disclosed. The tampons disclosed demonstrate these improved expansion characteristics particularly in the width dimension without introducing new drawbacks. Preferred tampons are described which are compressed to an initial size comparable to current tampons, but which expand to a width exceeding that achieved by current tampons. Such increased expansion is preferably accomplished without an increase in the total absorbency of the tampon. Tampons of various absorbencies are disclosed having increased total expansion in the width direction compared to current tampons. Additionally, tampons of various absorbencies which expand to a greater degree in the width direction under pressure are also disclosed. Tampons of various absorbencies which expand at a rate exceeding that achieved previously are also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 14, 2006
Date of Patent: March 20, 2012
Assignee: The Procter and Gamble Company
Inventors: Raymond Kusi Agyapong, Roberto Hollander, David Joseph Caracci, Susan Rachelle Hill, Bruce Leslie Hayes, Fiona Marie Taylor, James Arthur Keighley, Kevin Charles Strong

  • Publication number: 20110100529
Abstract: Connecting means for connecting a first piece of hollow tube to a second piece of hollow tube. This means comprises an insert, where the insert is a hollow shaft having an external and an internal cross section. The internal cross section of said insert having a central rectangular section. The internal cross section having a first and a second tapered sections on either side of the central rectangular section tapering down from the height of the central rectangular section down to zero. The external cross section of the insert is adapted to fit snuggly inside the first piece of hollow tube and said second piece of hollow tube and the insert is adapted to minimize the peak stress transfer loading between the insert and the first and second piece of hollow tube. It also comprises a bonding means, where the bonding means adapted to secure the insert to the inside said first and second piece of hollow tube. The invention also consists in a kit.
