    Abstract: A submerged heating unit fueled by wood and/or coal is disclosed for heating water in a tub or spa unit. The heating unit is composed of a single shell of a highly heat-conductive metal, such as aluminum, and has a generally L-shaped configuration in cross-section. The unit is entirely submerged in the tank of water except for air and fuel inlets and an exhaust outlet.
