  • Publication number: 20230058272
Abstract: An angle grind coating apparatus and method for providing a coating onto materials is described. The angle grind coating apparatus comprising workpiece holder (102) assembled for holding tool material (104) and is assembled over base (106) provided over a fixture (108). The workpiece holder (102) has a spring assembly (110) to apply an upward thrust force to the tool material (104) and a grinding wheel (114) is mounted perpendicular to the workpiece holder (102) to enable grinding of the tool material (104) fixed in front and just below the grinding wheel (114) to align the fixture (108) with the grinding wheel (114).

  • Patent number: 11279081
Abstract: Disclosed is a technology being implemented in an apparatus for depositing multiple layers of a stream of swarf particles. The stream of swarf particles is generated by interfacing a cutting abrasive wheel on a workpiece. The generated stream of swarf particles may be directed towards a cavity of a die. Multiple layers of stream of swarf particles further results in a 3D printed object that takes the shape of the cavity of the die. The apparatus may also be used to coat substrates. Substrates may include but not limited to metal surfaces, polymers, and ceramics.

  • Patent number: 10835920
Abstract: Disclosed is a technology being implemented in an apparatus for coating a substrate with swarf particles. The apparatus facilitates depositing metal coating onto metal surfaces, polymers, and ceramics. In this apparatus, the grinding process is retrofitted to deposit coatings onto substrates that range from soft (e.g., polymers and aluminium) to hard (e.g., glass-ceramic) materials. The apparatus comprises a sample holder, an infeed, and a grinding wheel. The sample holder holds a substrate to be coated with swarf particles. The infeed holding a work piece. The grinding wheel is mounted at a predefined height over the infeed. The apparatus is used to perform metal coating by depositing the swarf materials on surface of the substrate. It may be noted that the swarf materials are generated by grinding the work piece with the grinding wheel.

  • Publication number: 20050133120
Abstract: An article and method for forming an article having a hard-finished surface including a predetermined density of carbides to improve pitting and wear resistance and to significantly increase the overall life of the article. This method comprises selecting a carburizing grade material to form an article, carburizing the article to form a microstructure on at least one portion of the article having a predetermined density of carbides dispersed in the microstructure to a predetermined depth, quenching the article to form a hardened matrix dispersed with carbides and hard finishing the article to form the surface, the surface having at least approximately 20% by volume fraction carbides dispersed in the hardened matrix.

  • Patent number: 5753108
Abstract: A skimmer for recovering spilled oil plows through the water at relatively high speeds and operates under a variety of weather conditions. To counteract the pitch and roll of the skimmer while traveling through choppy seas, the skimmer is attached to the propelling vessel by a biaxial mount, which has the shaft perpendicular to the center line of the vessel and horizontal to the water line. This allows the nose section of the skimmer to travel in a vertical direction in concert with oncoming swells and waves. The main control frame of the skimmer is hinged perpendicularly to the vessel shaft yoke to allow the main frame to roll in concert with cross waves and swells. This biaxial mounting allows the nose of the skimmer to remain at a fairly uniform depth in the water no matter which direction the waves are approaching, which allows the skimmer to be attached to virtually any vessel with size and characteristics to accommodate the mass of the skimmer.

  • Patent number: 4094472
Abstract: A method for removal of newsprint paper remaining on cores after the majority of the rolled paper on the cores has been used for printing newspapers, the method comprised of emplacing the depleted roll with core in a cradle positioned parallel to an open-end, rotatable shaft with polished surface, partially uncoiling the depleted roll, then causing the paper to be transferred from the core to the rotating shaft, removing the paper from the open end of the shaft and disposing thereof, retaining the core for future use.
