  • Patent number: 9187724
Abstract: A method for cultivating and processing microalgae includes directing a continuous supply of carbon dioxide into an enclosed photobioreactor containing microalgae. The enclosed photobioreactor is exposed to insolation for the cultivation of the microalgae by means of controlled photosynthesis chemical reactions. The microalgae are cultivated and the microalgae are processed to create an algae biomass and a gaseous mixture. The algae biomass is extracted to produce an essentially pure algae oil and oil free algae biomass. The gaseous mixture is separated into unreacted carbon dioxide and oxygen. The separated unreacted carbon dioxide is recycled to the photobioreactor and the oxygen in excess of export quantity is stored.

  • Publication number: 20130252324
Abstract: A method and system for synergism between a renewable energy system and a fossil energy system for the production of marketable energy forms such as electricity, methanol, petroleum-equivalent transportation fuels, urea fertilizer, and industrial hydrogen. Depending on configuration, the invention relates either to fossil-energy-assisted, renewable energy production or to renewable-energy-assisted, fossil energy production. The fossil energy source is coal, hydrocarbon fuel oil, or natural gas. The renewable energy is from the cultivation of microalgae and the extraction of its oil content, production of methane, and coincidentally-produced oxygen. The products and by-products from fossil energy production are used for the cultivation of algae and the products and by-products from algae cultivation are used to reduce the consumption of fossil energy in energy production.

  • Publication number: 20130224841
Abstract: A method and system for synergism between a renewable energy system and a fossil energy system for the production of marketable energy forms. Fossil-energy-assisted, renewable energy production or renewable-energy-assisted, fossil energy production uses coal, hydrocarbon fuel oil, or natural gas as the fossil energy source. The renewable energy is from the cultivation of microalgae and the extraction of its oil content, production of methane, and coincidentally-produced oxygen. The products and by-products from the fossil energy production are used for the cultivation of algae and the products and by-products from algae cultivation are used to reduce the consumption of fossil energy in the energy production. The synergism is the interchange of these products and by-products such that the net marketable energy production results in maximizing the use of renewable (solar) energy, minimizing the use of fossil fuel, and minimizing emissions of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 5803125
Abstract: A vertically adjustable valve box for providing access to underground valves includes a first member having a tubular section with a bell and a peripheral flange disposed at a distal end. A second member has a tubular section with a bell and a flange disposed at a distal end. A second peripheral flange is disposed on the exterior surface of the second member approximately six inches below the face of first flange. The tubular section of the second member is telescoped over the tubular section of the first member, wherein the respective bells and flanges are disposed on opposite ends of the assembly and the central longitudinal axis of each is vertical and substantially in alignment. An O-ring gasket is positioned circumferentially around the exterior of the tubular section of the first member and prevents the second member from telescoping downward on first member past a desired insertion position.

Abstract: A vertically adjustable valve box for providing access to underground valves includes a first member having a tubular section with a bell and a peripheral flange disposed at a distal end, wherein the central longitudinal axis of the first member is oriented vertically. The invention further includes a second member having a tubular section with a bell and a flange disposed at a distal end. The tubular section of the second member is telescoped over the tubular section of the first member, wherein the respective bells and flanges are disposed on opposite ends of the assembly and the central longitudinal axis of each is vertical and substantially in alignment. An O-ring gasket is positioned circumferentially around the exterior of the tubular section of the first member. The lower end of the tubular section of the second member contacts the O-ring gasket. The O-ring is stretch-fit over the first member and prevents the second member from telescoping downward on first member past a desired insertion position.
