  • Patent number: 9119603
Abstract: An improved tip and handle for a tunnelling instrument are provided along with an improved tunnelling instrument. The tip is configured for attachment to a tunnelling instrument and includes a first portion configured to form a tunnel, a second portion sized to fit within a tubular component to be placed in the tunnel, and a third portion configured for attachment of the tubular component. The handle is configured to be attached to and detached from a tunneller shaft of a tunnelling instrument, at any point along the length of the tunneller shaft. The tunnelling instrument comprises a pair of tips, a connection means for forming a link between the tips, and a tunneller shaft slidably engagable with the connection means and attachable to either of the tips. Various forms of use of the tunnelling instrument are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20130243916
Abstract: The invention includes a flour tortilla having a low sodium content and to a method for preparing same. The method comprises has the following steps: (i) providing a flour tortilla dough in a portion sufficient to prepare the tortilla; (ii) coating at least part of the surface of the dough with a salty taste enhancer, thus obtaining a coated dough; thereafter (iii) forming the coated dough into a tortilla shape; and thereafter (iv) baking the coated dough. The salty taste enhancer is a sodium salt substitute or the salty taste enhancer is a sodium salt composition having enhanced salty taste, or the salty taste enhancer is a chloride salt of sodium or potassium, applied in an amount of at least 0.05 wt. % based on flour weight.

  • Publication number: 20060145733
Abstract: A method for generating a bandlimited digital signal, includes generating a sequence of digital samples of a waveform, such as a sawtooth, square, or pulse waveform. The waveform has a discontinuity with a phase within a particular sampling interval. The digital samples in the sequence of digital samples of the waveform around the discontinuity are summed with a set of digital samples of an alias reducing pulse, which is based on the phase and magnitude of the discontinuity. The alias reducing pulse has essentially no DC bias, such as a pulse that is substantially odd symmetric relative to the phase of the discontinuity. The process is used in synthesis of analog synthesizer waveforms, hard sync and other waveform synthesis procedures.

  • Publication number: 20050274820
Abstract: A very high speed injector permits injecting high pressure diesel oil directly into a diesel engine combustion chamber. The very high speed permits almost arbitrary rate shaping, minimizing formation of diesel particulate matter and oxides of nitrogen pollutants. An electrical waveform is pre-determined for a desired fuel injection rate shape. The electrical waveform is converted into a corresponding magnetic field waveform by a solenoid coil. A giant magnetostrictive material (GMM) transduces the magnetic field waveform into a corresponding mechanical waveform. The mechanical waveform positions a valve element to control flow rate. The very high speed features include a thin solenoid coil of relatively few turns, proportionally supplying up to one hundred amperes at up to one hundred volts in no greater than ten microseconds, the GMM is subject to a bias compressive stress magnitude of no less than fourteen megapascals, and the magnetic flux path is minimized and designed to suppress eddy currents.

  • Patent number: 4318936
Abstract: A method of making a strain gauge in a fragile web wherein the improvement resides in making the web after the gauge is substantially completely formed. This reverse sequence is made possible by a unique combination of plasma deposited silicon oxide and plasma deposited silicon nitride on top of the completed device to protect it from attack during silicon substrate etching to form the diaphragm.
