  • Publication number: 20080039800
Abstract: A luer connector assembly is provided for enhancing the frictional engagement between medical devices such as syringes and needle assemblies. The assembly needle includes a female luer fitting having a passageway and a relatively soft, resilient member bounding the passageway. The passageway is also bounded by the body of the fitting, which is harder than the soft, resilient member. A male luer fitting inserted into the passageway engages both the soft, resilient member and the body of the female luer fitting. A method of manufacturing such a connector assembly is further provided. A first material is injected into a mold to form the body of a female luer fitting, the fitting including a passageway and a recess extending into the body. A second material is then injected such that it extends into the recess and bounds the passageway. The second material, when cool, is softer than the first material.

  • Publication number: 20070173825
Abstract: A spinal rod coupler used for joining spinal rods in a parallel fashion. The coupler is adapted to join rods of different thicknesses or flexibilities while occupying a minimal amount of volume inside a patient. The coupler preferably has a V-shaped channel adapted to receive the spinal rods such that the spinal rods make a line contact with the V-shaped channel at two points in cross section. The coupler also has at least one blocker adapted to exert force against the spinal rod or rods in order to hold the spinal rod in the coupler.

  • Publication number: 20060030689
Abstract: Adhesive compositions are described which comprise at least one organic sulfoxide, sulfone or sulfide and at least one ketone, ether, ester, amide or carbonate or a mixture thereof. The adhesive compositions also may contain one or more water insoluble polymers such as ABS, PVC and CPVC. Methods of adhesively bonding or welding a first plastic surface to a second plastic surface using these adhesive compositions also are described.

  • Patent number: 6890020
Abstract: A hauling trailer particularly suited to the transport of scrap such as crushed and flattened vehicles includes a floor with walls and one open side, and a retractable wall structure for closing off the open side during transport. The wall structure, which may be flexible, rigid, or partitioned, is preferably retracted by raising and lowering a barrier from a member supported above the open side. To provide greater access to the open side during loading, a separate mechanism is provided for raising and lowering the member independent of the wall structure. The member may, for example, form part of a generally c-shaped lid structure, with the separate mechanism moving the lid structure between a lowered and raised position.

  • Patent number: 6877794
Abstract: This invention broadly provides a trailer having a side which opens and closes to prevent the loss of material during transport. In the preferred embodiment, the trailer includes three solid or rigid sides with a fourth side that opens and closes with a drape, though in alternative configurations, two or more sides may also open and close, preferably utilizing the methods and apparatus disclosed herein. In a simple configuration, the invention utilizes a cable suspended between opposing upper points, with a curtain having upper eyelets journaled thereon, enabling the curtain to open and close so as to permit access to the trailer interior. Although this may be carried out according to the invention with an upper cable that remains affixed, in the preferred embodiments, a winch and pulley system is used to tighten the cable, and to loosen the cable for detachment purposes.

  • Publication number: 20040100064
Abstract: This invention resides in a hauling trailer, particularly of the type used to transport scrap such as crushed and flattened vehicles. A trailer according to the invention broadly includes a floor with walls and one open side, and a hinged door structure that allows one of the long sides of the trailer to be opened and closed for loading and unloading. In the preferred embodiment, the door structure opens centrally, but includes two panels on either side which are respectively hinged to one another, resulting in an articulated structure that provides more clearance. The doors are preferably cross-braced, and are covered with mesh and/or canvas to retain smaller loose components from falling out. The height of the doors is also adjusted to suite trailer having a lower floor between front and rear axles, and hinged braces are provided to maintain at least the top bridge of the doors in a straight and aligned condition when the doors are closed.
