Publication number: 20160264220Abstract: A system and method is provided for assisting with the loading of a boat at a desired parking target, such as boat trailer or dock. In one example, a light source is provided on a boat trailer to illuminate the trailer. A forward facing camera and corresponding monitor are provided on a boat. As the boat approaches the boat trailer, the light source makes the boat trailer more visible, especially in low light conditions. The light source is also visible on the monitor, making it easier for a boat operator to guide the boat to the trailer.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2016Publication date: September 15, 2016Inventors: William P. Laceky, Bruce A. Johnson, Charles C. Hoover, Thompson James Pooton

Patent number: 5771653Abstract: An integral, one-piece, metallic chord for use as the top and bottom chords of a roof truss. The chord comprises an elongated member of generally U-shaped, singly symmetric cross-section, having a base terminating at its longitudinal edges in mirror image legs. The base portion is planar with a central depressed rib formed therein and extending the length thereof. Each leg comprises a first planar portion perpendicular to and extending from its respective longitudinal edge of the base, followed by an inwardly sloped planar portion leading to a planar attachment portion which is perpendicular to the base portion and which terminates in a flange portion extending outwardly of the attachment portion and then upwardly and inwardly, ending in a longitudinal edge facing the attachment portion. The flange portions form semi-closed reinforcement members. The legs and their flange portions constitute the sides of the chord.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1996Date of Patent: June 30, 1998Assignee: Unimast IncorporatedInventors: Masoud Dolati, Rahim A. Patent number: 4619215Abstract: A deep vee entry hull is disclosed and includes a central running surface flanked in the after portion thereof, by inboard, intermediate and outboard running surfaces. The central and inboard surfaces terminate at the aft ends thereof in a first transverse step while the intermediate running surfaces terminate in a second transverse step aft of the first.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 1985Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Assignee: Wood Manufacturing Company, Inc.Inventors: Forrest L. Wood, Dale H. Jensen, Kenneth P. Poley, Charles C. Hoover, Gary L. Wilson
-
Patent number: 4465009Abstract: High speed turning characteristics of a small vee type planing hull are increased by the use of after, outboard running surfaces which are concavely configured.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1981Date of Patent: August 14, 1984Assignee: Wood Manufacturing Co.Inventors: Forrest L. Wood, Dale H. Jensen, Kenneth P. Poley, Charles C. Hoover, Gary L. Wilson
-
Patent number: 4398483Abstract: Porpoising control in a high speed planing hull is effected during straight, on plane running and in turning maneuvers by a novel configuration of aft tapered wedges bridging the aft, exit ends of the outboard and next adjacent, inboard running surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1981Date of Patent: August 16, 1983Assignee: Wood Manufacturing Company, IncorporatedInventors: Forrest L. Wood, Dale H. Jensen, Kenneth P. Poley, Charles C. Hoover, Gary L. Wilson

Patent number: 4361102Abstract: High speed turning characteristics of a vee type planing hull are increased by the use of after, outboard running surfaces which are concavely configured and include transverse wedges across the after, inboard halves thereof.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1980Date of Patent: November 30, 1982Assignee: Wood Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventors: Forrest L. Wood, Dale H. Jensen, Kenneth P. Poley, Charles C. Hoover, Gary L. Wilson

Patent number: 4233920Abstract: The performance characteristics of a vee type planing hull are significantly increased by a combination of features for reducing drag and increasing attitude control.Exemplary of the former are a concave running pad to which air is inducted to reduce hull drag and an angled transom terminating at a transverse hull "step" which permits the outboard propulsion unit to be carried higher reducing unit drag. The presence of longitudinal "wedges" increase hull lift as planing speed is approached allowing the hull to plane at a lower speed.Transverse wedge elements positioned outboard of the concave running pad maintain a stern lifting torque for controlling bow up angle.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1979Date of Patent: November 18, 1980Assignee: Wood Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Forrest L.
