  • Patent number: 5497690
Abstract: A detachable accessory for stringed instruments of the guitar family that utilizes a platform (26) to support individual string contacts (37-42) from a position over an instrument's strings (21-24) near the bridge (20). The contacts (37-42) provide adjustable, curved surfaces for the strings (21-24) to rebound against as they vibrate, causing them to emulate the timbres of other instruments, such as a fretless bass, or a sitar. The device can be attached by double-stick tape or foam, and no alterations are necessary on the instrument.
