  • Patent number: 9397410
Abstract: An electrical terminal (10) having an electrical contact (18) and a crimp barrel (20) configured to be crimped around an end of a wire. The crimp barrel (20) includes a base (22) and opposing side walls (24) that define an opening (25) of the crimp barrel (20). The side walls (24) extend outwardly from the base (22) to ends (50) and include base segments (52) and end segments (54). A sealing wing (56) extends from the end of at least one of the side walls (24). The side walls (24) are configured to be folded over the wire when crimped such that a gap is defined between the end segment (54) and the base segment (52) of at least one of the side walls (24). The sealing wing (56) is configured to extend within the gap between the end segment (54) and the base segment (52) when the side walls (24) are crimped over the end of the wire.

  • Patent number: 8210884
Abstract: An electrical terminal is provided for terminating a wire. The electrical terminal includes an electrical contact and a crimp barrel extending from the electrical contact. The crimp barrel is configured to be crimped around an end of the wire. The crimp barrel includes a base and opposing side walls that extend from the base. The base and the side walls define an opening of the crimp barrel that is configured to receive the end of the wire therein. The side walls extend outwardly from the base to ends. The side walls include base segments that extend from the base and end segments that extend from the base segments and include the ends. A sealing wing extends from the end of at least one of the side walls. The side walls are configured to be folded over when crimped over the end of the wire such that a gap is defined between the end segment and the base segment of at least one of the side walls.

  • Patent number: 8176625
Abstract: An electrical connector tool assembly is disclosed. The tool assembly includes a conductor tool and a connector tool connected to and cooperable with the conductor tool. The tool assembly can be used in connecting a first conductor to a second conductor with an electrical connector. The tool assembly is adjustably arranged and disposed to receive and removably retain a first conductive member of an electrical connector in the connector tool and is further arranged and disposed to both to hold the second conductor in place relative to a second conductive member of the electrical connector and to prevent rotation of the second conductive member with respect to the first conductive member.

  • Patent number: 7524217
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly for a utility power transmission system includes a first conductive member having a first hook portion and a first base wedge portion with the first hook portion extending from the first wedge portion and is adapted to engage a main conductor. A second conductive member includes a hook portion and a wedge portion with the hook portion extending from the wedge portion and adapted to engage a tap conductor. The wedge portion of the first conductive member and the wedge portion of the second conductive member are adapted to nest with one another and be secured to one another by hand without specialized tooling. The assembly further comprises a displacement stop that is located on at least one of the first and second conductive members once fully mated. The displacement stop is positioned to define a final displacement relation between the first and second conductive members.

  • Patent number: 6798322
Abstract: In order to reduce acoustic noise, an electromagnetic relay (2) includes an insert or bump (20) located between the relay armature (4) and the relay core (8). The insert is flexible and can be mounted on the armature. The insert (20) reduces noise by decelerating the armature (4) at impact with the core (8). The armature (4) can be tilted relative to a surface of the core (8) so that the insert or bump (20) can be positioned away from the primary impact between the core and the armature.

  • Patent number: 6767222
Abstract: A socket is shown for interconnecting a chip to a printed circuit board, where the socket is comprised of a housing and a substrate. The substrate is of the type comprising a plurality of wire leads extending upwardly from the substrate, and which are interconnected to solder balls on the opposite side of the substrate. The housing has a plurality of slots therethrough, such that the substrate can be positioned on the lower side of the housing with the resilient leads extending upwardly in the slots. A chip receiving face is positioned on the opposite side of the housing for contacting the resilient leads of the substrate. The housing includes resilient arms on opposite sides of the housing, which grip the substrate and which maintain the housing in a resiliently biased position above the substrate, such that the leads remain in their respective slots.
