  • Patent number: 5526261
Abstract: An electronic transmission control system for a self-propelled off-road vehicle having an internal combustion engine and multiple gear powershift transmission controls the powershift transmission and provides the at least on control signal to the engine for selecting the speed at which the engine is to operate. The system preferably includes a first electronic controller that provides transmission control signals required to command the powershift transmission to shift to and operate in any particular one of its forward gears, and a second electronic controller that provides at least one engine control signal required to command the engine to operate at one of a number of different desired engine speeds and to monitor the actual engine speed.

  • Patent number: 5305215
Abstract: An expandable, modular microcomputer system for an off-road vehicle having a controller which is operable to generate a plurality of independent pulse-width modulated control signals and a plurality of independent on/off control signals to a corresponding plurality of metal oxide silicone field effect transistors (MOSFETS). An RS-485 bi-directional serial communications interface enables the system to communicate with at least one other ingredient, external, controller. Thus, the control system can be modularly expanded to handle the needs of increasingly complex powershift transmissions. A watchdog circuit monitors operation of the controller and is supplied with a regulated voltage independent of the regulated voltage used to power the microcomputer. The watchdog can provide a reset signal to the microcomputer when spurious operation of the microcomputer is detected, as well as initiate operation of a back-up voltage supply circuit.

  • Patent number: 4261698
Abstract: Apparatus and a method for measuring trace amounts of oxygen in an atmosphere is described. An oxygen free nitrogen gas is used as the carrier gas and nitrogen, ultra high purity, with approximately 10 ppm (parts per million) water is used as the reagent gas of an ionization source is operated at atmospheric pressure. A small electric field of approximately 200 volts per centimeter is applied across the length of the ionization chamber up to a pinhole entrance to a quadrupole mass spectrometer. The voltage is biased to repel negative ions towards the quadrupole mass spectrometer. Measurement of the peak height of the m/e value of 52 in the mass spectrum are integrated over a period of time. The results of the integration are then compared to a calibration chart which indicates the amount of oxygen that is present in the atmosphere being measured.

  • Patent number: T103203
Abstract: A method of preventing out-gassing from lift-off structures formed of positive resists (as for example, o-quinone diazide/phenol formaldehyde novolak resins) during vacuum evaporation of metals in the fabrication of semiconductor devices. Such outgassing is avoided by compositional control of the photosensitive resist lift-off layer and by providing an additional baking step after the lift-off mask has been formed. Both conditions are required and critical to avoid the volatile resin decomposition products which not only tend to contaminate the device substrate surface, but also the deposited metal film. The method employs a photosensitive polymer which contains about 10 to 20 wt. % of the sensitizer (e.g. o-quinone diazide) in conjunction with a secondary baking step at about 160.degree. to about 200.degree. C. after the lift-off mask has been formed and prior to metal film deposition.
