The portable band saw is used to cut and object with the cutting blade of the portable band saw in a single continuous linear cut direction.

The method also includes the steps of providing a portable cutting device, installing the cutting blade on the portable cutting device, and using the portable cutting device with the installed cutting blade to cut an object.
