  • Patent number: 5134270
Abstract: A heater assembly (10) is for installation in a clothes dryer (D). The assembly includes at least one open coil heating element (12), and a plurality of insulators (16) to each of which a convolution of the coil is attachable. The insulators are mounted on a support (22) in a spaced relation from each other. The support is attachable to a multi-sided pan structure (30). The pan has sidewalls (32A, 32B) to which the support is attachable for installing the coil in the pan. The pan has a lip (54) which extends beneath one end (54) of a heating unit (U) section (S2). The pan is directly attachable to the unit and the unit directly installable in the dryer. The heater assembly is also formed to help install the unit in the appliance during its manufacture.

  • Patent number: 4358669
Abstract: The invention relates to support legs for bake elements used in microwave ovens. The improved support leg utilizes a conventional wire leg used on bake elements for electric ranges, wherein the leg is formed of wire which is bent to V-shape to provide a bight and legs extending from the bight. Feet are turned outwardly and angularly of the ends of the wire legs, the feet being coined to provide projection welding ridges. A molded ceramic block is slotted to fit into and around the vee and legs of the wire leg, and the two parts are held assembled by welding the feet to the metal sheath of a conventional bake element. The ceramic block is adapted to engage the floor of the microwave oven and is held by the wire leg with sufficient play so that the block may align itself with the oven floor in the event the latter is not level.

  • Patent number: 4182948
Abstract: An electric heating element of the type having a metal tubular sheath, a resistance conductor within the sheath, a terminal pin connected to an end of the resistance conductor and having an outer end projecting outwardly of the open end of the sheath, electric-insulating, heat-conducting material holding the resistance conductor and terminal pin spaced from the inner surface of the sheath; the improvement comprising a spade-type terminal on the outer end of the terminal pin, the spade-type terminal being formed as an integral part of the terminal pin by a coining die operation.
