  • Patent number: 5189789
Abstract: A method for sealing the internal peripheral surface of a tube, such as a heat exchanger tube. A plug is provided which includes a plug body and at least one annular wing formed on an outer periphery of the plug body. The plug is chilled to a temperature below a transition temperature of the plug, then the annular wing or wings are bent backward such that the outer diameter is decreased to a diameter which is less than an inner diameter of the tube to be sealed. The chilled plug is then inserted into an open end of the tube, until a back portion of the plug is flush with the open end of the tube. As the ambient temperature heats the plugs, the plug returns to an undeformed state such that the annular wings return to a state of increased diameter, thereby sealing the tube. In order to ensure that the plug returns to this undeformed state, the plug is formed of a material having at least two allotropic states.

  • Patent number: 5140317
Abstract: An electronic security system includes an electronic lock mechanism and an electronic key, each of which is provided with a microprocessor controller and a memory storing data including an ID code. The lock microprocessor changes the ID code stored in its memory upon the operation of the lock by a correct key. The key can only be used to operate the lock once, and thereafter must be reprogrammed by a host computer with the updated ID code for the lock. The electronic lock operates a solenoid which retracts a bolt blocking mechanism which prevents the unlocking of the bolt even when a key having the correct mechanical key cuts is inserted into the lock. Power for operating the electronic lock as well as the solenoid is provided by a power supply within the key.

  • Patent number: 5038588
Abstract: A T-handle lock assembly for vending machines or the like include a two-piece cylinder front handle and cylinder/extension rod housing subassembly which interlock by means of first and second asymmetrical flange edges integrally formed on the housing and corresponding recessed slots within the cylinder front handle. A single set screw is threaded into an aperture in the front handle extending in the direction of the slots to engage and rigidly secure the housing to the handle so that the lock cylinder is in alignment with a key access passage in the front surface of the cylinder front handle. The arrangement prevents access to the lock cylinder when in a locked condition even if the set screw is removed.

  • Patent number: 5010745
Abstract: A high security post lock according to the invention includes a hardened shell having a head member at one end thereof and an eccentric locking cam rotatably mounted at the other end. The lock is adapted to be inserted through an opening passing through a door frame and a door to secure the door. In a first or open position, the circumference of the cam is coextensive with the circumference of the shell, so that the lock can be inserted into and withdrawn from the door. In a second or locked position, the locking cam projects outwardly from the shell to prevent withdrawal of the lock and thus secure the door. Movement of the cam is limited by a pin and groove arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4998952
Abstract: A hybrid key for operating both electronic and mechanical locks has the electrical components in a separate and removable housing which is normally secured to the bow portion of the key blade but may be removed, the disclosed means for securing the electrical housing to the key bow is via a configuration including grooves in the housing, a hook portion on the key bow, and holes through the housing and bow at a single point for rivet securing means.

  • Patent number: 4874330
Abstract: An improved modular plug which permits a normal 6-position plug to accommodate 8 conductors, and a normal 8-position plug to accommodate 10 conductors, without increasing the overall outer width thereby remaining in compliance with FCC regulations. A pair of grooves are formed into the side walls of the cable-receiving cavity to accommodate the extra conductors.

  • Patent number: 4866964
Abstract: A removable core cam lock of the type having a key operated core within a shell, is provided with a spring clip controlled by a core removal key which is longer than an operating key. The spring clip fits in a groove in the core and extends through a slot in the shell so that when the core removal key is put into the lock it operates the lock and on rotation of the lock it lifts the spring clip to allow core removal.

  • Patent number: 4674822
Abstract: A low profile, wide body modular plug and a multi-conductor shielded cable for termination therein and use with a low profile modular jack adapted to be mounted on a printed circuit board in a closely-spaced array. The low profile design of the plug features latching arms mounted on the outer side walls which mate with cooperating shoulders formed on the inner side walls of the jack. The plug preferably includes a flip-top door formed in the bottom wall thereof for permitting greater accessibility to the internal cable-receiving cavity of the plug. The flip-top door preferably includes a plurality of cable-engaging projections for increasing the pull-out or retention force of the cable and plug assembly. The plug is particularly designed to receive a multi-conductor shielded cable which includes three round shielded wire assemblies arranged in a planar array within an outer encapsulating jacket.

  • Patent number: 4216717
Abstract: Screen printing apparatus incorporating drive means for a squeegee comprising a drive motor, a lead screw rotatable by the motor and a rider for the lead screw, said rider being coupled to a mounting for the squeegee preferably through stroke adjustment means and the lead screw having two oppositely handed threads thereon such that rotation of the motor causes reciprocating motion of the rider longitudinally of the lead screw at substantially uniform speed.Adjusting means to adjust the distance between two members such as a printing head of screen printing apparatus and a table on which articles to be printed can be laid, comprising a pair of coaxial shafts, eccentric members secured on the shafts, bushes secured to respective ones of said members and means to rotate the shaft such that the eccentrics when rotated in the bushes cause the members to move relatively to one another by the sum of the eccentricity of the two eccentrics having regard to the angle through which they are rotated.
