  • Patent number: 10513195
Abstract: A dual energy recovery, storage and use system comprising an electrically operated machine capable of regenerative electrical energy recovery, an electrically driven hydraulic regenerative energy recovery system which utilizes regenerative electrical energy to drive an electrically driven hydraulic pump/motor as a pump to pressurize hydraulic fluid in an accumulator, then uses the previously stored pressurized fluid to drive a hydraulic pump/motor as a motor to operate an electric motor/generator as a generator providing electricity to operate/assist in operating an electrically operated machine.

  • Publication number: 20180099581
Abstract: A system for the recovery of kinetic energy, such as the energy from a rotating wheel of a vehicle, comprises a first electric motor/generator rotationally connected to at least one kinetic energy input; a battery; an electric/hydraulic regen system comprising a second electric motor/generator; and an electrical drive regen controller. The controller is configured to proportion electrical energy, generated from rotation of the first electric motor/generator, between the battery and the second electric motor/generator, based in part on the rate of charging capability of the battery. In this way, energy that would normally be lost as dissipated heat is directed to an electric/hydraulic regen system and stored.

  • Patent number: 9673682
Abstract: A hybrid vertical energy storage system is invented wherein the components responsible for the conversion, storage and production of energy are used as the weighted component of a gravitationally aided energy storage device. The present invention allows gravity to operate mechanical devices which may help move a volume of fluid in order to compress a gas and store potential energy. The present invention utilizes the attributes of pumped hydro by using gravity assisted fluid transfer, and also combines Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) functionality by powering hydraulic pumps and motors to transfer fluid from one vessel to another vessel. This feature allows conventional, inexpensive, market proven components to make the capture, conversion, storage and production of energy more effective and affordable while eliminating the placement issues associated with such large scale pumped hydro and CAES systems while extending battery service life.

  • Patent number: 7201095
Abstract: A fluid drive system that can be used to drive a vehicle and has energy regeneration and storage capabilities. The fluid drive system includes an electrical energy supply source mounted on the vehicle, at least one electrical motor electrically connected to the electrical supply source, and a hydraulic pump driven that may be of the variable displacement type by the electrical motor. The fluid drive system may also include a low pressure hydraulic fluid supply tank supplying fluid to the hydraulic pump, at least one pneumatically charged accumulator tank for storing pressurized hydraulic fluid, a combination hydraulic motor and pump that may also be of the variable displacement type being alternately driven by the hydraulic pump and the pneumatically charged accumulator tank; and an electrical regeneration system for regenerating the electrical energy supply. The electrical regeneration system may be powered by hydraulic fluid from the combination electrical motor and pump.
