Abstract: Methods are provided for decoking the radiant coils in an ethylene cracking plant. The decoking process is controlled by monitoring the coil outlet temperature to control the rate of burning of coke in the radiant coils. Air flow rates, steam flow rates and coil outlet temperatures are controlled during the decoking process to prevent tube damage, minimize decoking time and maximize coke removal.

Abstract: A construction, comfortably, quickly and easily securing and releasing a protector about and from the rear upper and heel portions of a shoe. The protector comprises a bonnet which wraps around heel and rear upper portions of a wearer's shoe. An elongated flap member is disposed above and across the foot's dorsal area. A VELCRO strip (loops) most of which being securely mounted topside of such member, is affixed at its one end to a corner of an upper frontal portion of one side panel of the bonnet. One end of another VELCRO strip (hooks) is attached to an opposing end of the elongated member, its length threaded through a noose attached at a corner of an upper frontal portion of the other side panel of the bonnet. A pull tab attached to the VELCRO strip (hooks) cooperates with the noose to prevent such strip from being freed of the noose, yet the strip's length provides ample play by which the shoe is inserted under it.

Abstract: A skimmer is provided for removing oil spilled on the surface of a body of water. The skimmer has a hull which is submersible in the water and a coupler on the nose of the hull for coupling the skimmer to a towing vehicle. A surge tank is located within the hull for receiving oil and water skimmed from the surface. A funnel positioned on top of the skimmer and extending through the hull has an inlet end positionable in the spilled oil and an outlet end extending into the surge tank. In one embodiment the inlet end comprises a pivotable head that is held level with the surface of the liquid by an attached float. A conveyor within the funnel controls the flow of oil and water into the surge tank. A sensor at the funnel inlet controls a hydraulic jack located between the funnel and the hull to position the inlet in the oil on the water's surface. A conduit is provided between the surge tank and a conduit coupler on the rear of the hull for use in pumping oil out of the surge tank and into an outside conduit.
