  • Patent number: 5753149
Abstract: A nozzle assembly for use in a cooling tower having a hot water deck including a nozzle body positioned in an opening in the deck, the body having mounted at the bottom thereof a diffusion plate for diffusing water, a vortex crown member telescopically received within said nozzle body, the crown member having an orifice ring which defines an orifice opening through which water passes for engaging the diffusion plate, with the nozzle body and the crown member being locked to the deck when the crown member is fully telescopically received with the nozzle body.

  • Patent number: 5137787
Abstract: An improved composite plastic panel is disclosed, including a base layer comprising a thermoplastic or thermoset resin, which may be reinforced, and a protective surface layer comprising a polyurethane polymer having a glass transition temperature of at least 80.degree. C. The protective layer forms a strong polar bond with the base layer. Thus, the composite plastic panel displays high water and weather resistance and has an increased useful lifespan.

  • Patent number: 4915877
Abstract: A fill assembly comprising an apertured fill member of generally inverted V-shape, and a tray member which receives the bottoms of the side walls of the fill. The fill and tray are formed with cooperating flange members, with the flanges of the tray defining grooves which function to constrain laterally outward movement of the legs of the fill. Deformation of the fill under loading is thereby prevented.

  • Patent number: 4868956
Abstract: A retainer clip for mounting and retaining fill slat on vertical and horizontal supporting wires in a water cooling tower, wherein the retaining clip is formed with a body portion and retaining flanges adapted to coact with the fill slat. The opposite end walls of the clip are each formed with a plurality of spaced projecting tabs and surrounding recesses, and a central outwardly exposed half groove. The projecting tabs at each end of the clip correspond in dimension and location to the recesses in the opposite end wall of the clip, and vice versa, whereby adjacently disposed and mirror image end walls of laterally adjacent clips can be engaged so that the projecting tabs of both end walls define essentially continuous side walls surrounding a full groove adapted to receive a vertical wire. The reduction in length permitted by the tab and recess mounting arrangement is such that clips can be laterally adjacently mounted thereby permitting the cooling tower to be more densely packed.

  • Patent number: 4576764
Abstract: The fill slat for use in water cooling towers comprises a perforated body portion, a central longitudinal rib, and downwardly inclined side flanges. The rib is inverted v-shape in cross-section and functions as a rigidifying beam for the fill slat. The rib is open at its bottom, thereby permitting a plurality of fill slats to be nested to reduce shipping costs. The side flanges are formed with slots, certain of which are angled, to receive the supporting wires. A holding clip can be additionally provided to reduce rolling or longitudinal movement of the fill slat.

  • Patent number: 4501708
Abstract: The repair pad comprises a generally flat flange having a central opening for receiving a spray nozzle and a generally cylindrical mounting element which is attached to the flange of the central opening and depends from the central opening for attachment to the body of the spray nozzle. The pad is used with a spray nozzle having a generally cylindrical body which is received in the cylindrical mounting element, a mounting flange connected to one end of the body and disposed in contact with the flat flange, and a dispersion plate connected to the opposite end of the cylindrical body for dispersing liquid contacting the dispersion plate.

  • Patent number: 4178333
Abstract: A hanger assembly to support fill strips in a cooling tower wherein the assembly includes headers and wire mesh hangers mounted on the headers. Each wire mesh hanger assembly includes vertical wires which have clamp portions formed at each end which extend through openings formed in the headers to suspend the wire mesh hanger from the header. The clamp portions include a cam surface which is compressed in the header opening when the clamp is moved to its operative position.
