  • Patent number: 7136199
Abstract: A document scanning apparatus which is capable of scanning an oversized document. In one embodiment the document scanning apparatus includes a base unit, an optical scanning device located within the base unit, and a cover freely removable from the base unit. The apparatus further includes a document positioning device configured to move a document with respect to the optical scanning device when the document is positioned between the base unit and the cover.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 26, 2001
Date of Patent: November 14, 2006
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP.
    Inventor: Charles Eric Cantwell
  • Patent number: 7103787
Abstract: The power consumption of a hardcopy output device is discovered. A page count value is gathered from the hardcopy output device. The page count value represents a number of hardcopy pages output by the hardcopy output device. The page count value is multiplied by a page power consumption value to approximate the outputting power consumption of the hardcopy output device.

  • Patent number: 6669316
Abstract: A document is reproduced by capturing an image of the document, generating a set of vector commands, and creating a duplicate document from the vector commands. The image is captured by scanning or other suitable means. The set of vector commands is generated by identifying vectors within the raster image and for each vector identified within the raster image, generating at least one vector command for replicating the identified vector. The duplicate document is created by executing the set of vector commands on an output device. The set of vector is either delivered directly to the output device or stored to a file and the file delivered to the output device.
