  • Patent number: 8575491
Abstract: A shielded electrical cable is disclosed that includes a plurality of spaced apart conductor sets where each conductor set includes one or more insulated conductors. The cable further includes first and second shielding films that include concentric portions, pinched portions, and transition portions arranged such that the concentric portions are substantially concentric with one or more end conductors of each conductor set, the pinched portions form pinched portions of the cable on two sides of the conductor set, and the transition portions provide gradual transitions between the concentric portions and the pinched portions. The cross-sectional areas of the transition portions are less than the cross-sectional areas of the conductors. The radius of curvature of the shielding films in the transverse direction is at least 100 microns.

  • Publication number: 20130146326
Abstract: A shielded electrical ribbon cable (2) includes conductor sets (4) each including one or more insulated conductors (6), and a first and second shielding film (8) on opposite sides of the cable. In transverse cross section, cover portions (7) of the shielding films (8) substantially surround each conductor set (4), and pinched portions (9) of the films (8) form pinched portions of the cable on each side of each conductor set (4). Dense packing is achieved while maintaining high frequency electrical isolation between conductor sets (4). When the cable (2) is laid flat, a quantity s/Dmin is in a range from 1.7 to 2, where S is a center-to-center spacing between nearest insulated conductors (6) of two adjacent conductor sets (4), and Dmin is the lesser of the outer dimensions of such nearest insulated conductors (6). Alternatively, a first and second conductor set each having only one pair of insulated conductors can satisfy a condition that ?/?1 is in a range from 2.5 to 3.

  • Patent number: 8221162
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a header connector and a socket connector configured to mate with the header connector. The header connector includes a plurality of signal pins and may include a plurality of shield blades. The socket connector includes a plurality of conductive paths, each conductive path being coupled to a signal contact, and may include a plurality of first shields. • Patent number: 5409384
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (10) of very low profile for interconnecting a daughter card to a mother board, mountable onto mother board (150) and having a housing (12) and an array of contacts (40) having elongate pin sections (42) insertable into through-holes (156) of mother board (150). Short pin sections (48) extend above the planar body section (14) of the housing and through apertures (122) of termini (120) of circuit traces (102) of a flexible circuit element (100) and soldered to said termini. Potting material embeds, seals and insulates the solder joints and short pin sections securing the flexible circuit element to the housing. Side portions (106) of the flexible circuit element extend upwardly from the housing to regions (110) of exposed trace portions (116) to be soldered to circuit traces of a daughter card (170).

  • Patent number: 5348488

The assembly includes a thin apertured organizer (50) movable along pin sections (40) and further includes a pair of guide posts (80) affixed to the housing (12) for example and extending through larger-diametered apertures (58) through organizer flanges (60) to leading ends (84) insertable into guide holes (154) of mother board (100). Organizer (50) abuts board (15) and is thereafter urged relatively toward and against housing (12) upon full mounting, being movable along guide posts (80) and pin sections (42). The assembly is accurately positionable with respect to the through-hole array by reason of the guide post leading ends (84) being received into guide holes (154) prior to pin section leading ends (44 ) entering through-holes (156).
