  • Publication number: 20210277170
Abstract: Provided are polymer compositions made by a process comprising: (a) providing a first reactive composition containing: (i) a polymerization initiator that is capable, upon a first activation, of forming two or more free radical groups, at least one of which is further activatable by subsequent activation; (ii) one or more ethylenically unsaturated compounds; and (iii) a crosslinker; (b) subjecting the first reactive composition to a first activation step such that the first reactive composition polymerizes therein to form a crosslinked substrate network containing a covalently bound activatable free radical initiator; (c) contacting the crosslinked substrate network with a grafting composition containing one or more ethylenically unsaturated compounds, wherein the contacting is conducted under conditions such that the grafting composition penetrates into the crosslinked substrate network; and (d) activating the covalently bound activatable free radical initiator at one or more selective regions of the crossli

  • Patent number: 7325259
Abstract: Apparatus for extending and retracting a cover for a swimming pool includes a motor for selectively rotating a clutch in one direction or the other direction. A first pawl, extending within the clutch, drives a first cam to cause rotation of a set of pulleys for winding cords thereabout to extend the cover from about a roller and a second pawl, extending within the clutch, drives a second cam to cause rotation of the roller to wrap the cover thereabout. First and second lift arms lift the first and second pawls out of engagement with the first and second cams, respectively as a function of the direction of rotation of the clutch to ensure that only one of the first and second cams is rotated by the clutch. A cylinder mounted on a shaft in engagement with the armature of the motor is in frictional contact with spring loaded brakes within the clutch to transfer rotational movement of the armature to the clutch.

  • Patent number: 6811179
Abstract: A two-wheeled cart includes a generally planar frame adapted and constructed to bear a load. At least one handle is secured to the frame. A pair of wheels is secured generally along a central axis of the frame. The wheels are arranged one substantially directly behind the other with respect to a direction of travel of the cart. In an embodiment, a pair of handles are detachably secured to the frame. The frame can further include an in-use handle mounting mechanism to retain the at least one handle in an in-use position outside the plane of the frame. A storage handle mounting mechanism can be provided to retain the at least one handle in a storage position generally coplanar with the frame. The wheels can be detachably secured to the frame.

  • Patent number: 5999323
Abstract: An active solar reflector, preferably mounted within a transparent dome, tracks the sun from sunrise to sunset to reflect impinging solar radiation into a room or other space to be lighted. The reflector includes a plurality of angled mirrors mounted one behind the other and of progressively increasing heights to intercept and reflect as large a flat plate area of solar radiation as possible. The mirrors are mounted upon a support rotatable about an axis to track the sun and to have the mirrors continuously reflect the impinging solar radiation.

  • Patent number: 5953869
Abstract: A system for flush mounting an object like a solar panel to a roof. The system uses a frame which is coupled to an outer circumference of the object. The frame is used to support and hold the object flush to the roof. An overhang member is coupled to an outside section of the frame. The overhang member is used for supporting roof flashing which is placed under the overhang member. This allows the object to be directly flashed to the roof flashing and further prevents water from seeping in between the object to be flush mounted and the roof flashing.

  • Patent number: 5154256
Abstract: A guard rail post assembly for a scaffolding platform advantageously uses an offset base portion to simplify connection of rail members at a point aligned above the base. A gravity lock is also disclosed which serves to maintain rail members which have been secured to the guard rail assembly and/or secure other connecting members elsewhere in scaffolding and shoring systems.

  • Patent number: 5141078
Abstract: The present invention relates to a scaffold deck of simplified construction. The scaffold deck has two parallel side rails connected at the ends by means of parallel transom members. Hook members are provided at the junction of the transom and side rail members with the fasteners for each hook member commonly securing the respective transom and side rail. The side rails at the opposed interior edges include a substrate engaging slot extending in the length of the side rails and have an edge region beyond the substrate which forms part of the top working surface of the scaffold deck. The scaffold deck advantageously uses the side rails for forming an edge region of the scaffold deck whereby the amount of substrate between the side rails is reduced thereby reducing cost and improving the weight of the scaffold deck.
