Patent number: 11933976Abstract: Systems and methods for tracking the position of one or more head-mounted display (HMD) system components of an HMD system. The HMD components may carry a plurality of angle sensitive detectors or other types of detectors. The HMD system may be operative to detect corrupted position tracking samples, allowing such samples to be ignored, thereby improving the position tracking process. Control circuitry causes light sources to emit light according a specified pattern, and receives sensor data from the plurality of detectors. Control circuitry may process the sensor data, for example using machine learning or other techniques, to track a position of one or more HMD components.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2022Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Valve CorporationInventors: Evan Fletcher, Jeffrey Walter Mucha, Joshua Mark Hudman, Alan Yates, Gordon Wayne Stoll, Jeffrey George Leinbaugh, Charles Lohr

Patent number: 11874133Abstract: Certain examples described herein enable a robotic device to accurate map a surrounding environment. The robotic device uses an image capture device and at least one of the image capture device and the robotic device move within the environment. Measurements associated with movement of at least one of the image capture device and the robotic device are used to determine a state of the robotic device. The state of the robotic device models the image capture device and the robotic device with respect to a model of the environment that is constructed by a mapping engine. By comparing the state of the robotic device with a measured change in the robotic device, an accurate representation of the state of the robotic device may be constructed. This state is used by the mapping engine to update the model of the environment.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2021Date of Patent: January 16, 2024Assignee: Imperial College Innovations LimitedInventors: Charles Fletcher Houseago, Michael Bloesch, Stefan Leutenegger

Patent number: 11134863Abstract: A method to generate orthotic product recommendations for users includes receiving interactions from a user including identification of one or more extremity areas of the user's body, the one or more extremity areas relevant to selection of one or more orthotic products. On-screen cues and interactions are provided to assist in positioning of the one or more extremity areas relative to one or more imaging sensors. Scan data is received from the one or more imaging sensors. A model of the one or more extremity areas is generated based on the scan data including estimating one or more complete circumferences of the one or more extremity areas. One or more orthotic products are identified based on a comparison of the model of the one or more extremity areas and one or more factors associated with the user and a plurality of orthotic products. A recommendation is provided that includes the one or more orthotic products.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2016Date of Patent: October 5, 2021Assignee: Scholl's Wellness Company LLCInventors: Rama Penta, Harold Howlett, Steven Dawson, Dmitri Svistula, Alan Shimoide, Charles Fletcher
