  • Publication number: 20070027551
Abstract: The present invention is directed to implantable bioabsorbable non-woven self-cohered web materials having a high degree of porosity. The web materials are very supple and soft, while exhibiting proportionally increased mechanical strength in one or more directions. The web materials often possess a high degree of loft. The web materials can be formed into a variety of shapes and forms suitable for use as implantable medical devices or components thereof.

  • Publication number: 20060220600
Abstract: A motor vehicle seat adjuster includes a DC motor and a control system operably connected to the motor to control seat motion to a desired motion profile. Power to the motor is variable from less than 100% of normal power to greater than 100% of normal power. The desired motion profile preferably includes a normal operating power and a boost operating power and the control system automatically increases motor power to the boost operating power after one of a predetermined period of time, a predetermined distance of travel, or a predetermined sensed condition. Parameters of the motion profile are preferably customizable.

  • Publication number: 20060205562
Abstract: A shifter mechanism for a motor vehicle includes a shifter lever, a park switch indicating when the shifter lever is out of a park position, and an electric actuator movable between a locking position and an unlocking position to lock and unlock the lever. An interlock switch indicates when the vehicle operator desires to move the lever. A controller moves the actuator when an ignition switch indicates an ignition is on, a brake switch indicates a brake pedal is pressed, and the interlock switch is actuated. The controller also moves the actuator when the lever is not in the park position and the interlock switch is actuated. The controller actuates a vehicle key lock actuator when the ignition switch indicates the vehicle ignition is on or when the park switch indicates that the lever is not in the park position.

  • Patent number: 7028989
Abstract: A tire carrier assembly for storing a spare tire on a vehicle which includes a carrier adapted for supporting the spare tire and a winch operatively connected to the carrier to raise and lower the carrier between a stowed position wherein the carrier is inaccessible and a deployed position wherein the carrier is accessible. The winch has a flexible member secured to the carrier and one of an electric motor and a manual device which selectively raises and lowers the carrier between the stowed and deployed positions. A monitoring device is located adjacent the winch and a control module is operably connected to the monitoring device to monitor movement of the carrier from the deployed position toward the stowed position.

  • Publication number: 20050164130
Abstract: A system and method of preparing artwork for a laser foil die implement prism lines designed to interact with the diffraction grating on a layer of laser hot foil. Artwork may be selectively segmented into discrete regions; prism lines may be created by assigning a halftone value, a frequency value, and an angle for each region of the artwork. A system and method of creating a laser foil die transfer such artwork and prism lines to a blank die; when created in accordance with the present invention, a die may transfer prism lines to a layer of laser foil applied to a substrate.

  • Publication number: 20050016319
Abstract: An adjustable pedal includes a first member with a slot and a second member movable along the slot relative to the first member. A pin is disposed in the slot. A biasing member urges the second member toward the one end. A tension control member is connected to the pin to selectively adjust the second member. The tension control member has a secondary lock member. To prevent movement of the second member relative to the first member in one condition and permit movement of the second member relative to the first member in another condition. An actuation system employing a cable is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6409764
Abstract: There are numerous medical situations involving deficiencies of living bone or periodontal tissue and where increase of living bone or periodontal tissue mass is desired. Methods are described wherein a configured, shell-like device that is capable of being penetrated by living cells and tissues, is implanted into the body of a mammal in such a way as to establish a space, the space being at least partly, bounded by the device. The configuration of the device is such that the configuration of the established space is essentially the same as the configuration of living bone or periodontal tissue that is desired for treatment of the tissue deficiency. At least one protein from the Transforming Growth Factor-Beta Superfamily of proteins is placed within the established space for the purpose of stimulating the growth of living bone or periodontal tissue within the established space. A kit for the generation of living bone or periodontal tissue, comprised of the components mentioned above, is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4082646
Abstract: Coked solids, produced by coking of tar sands, are contacted in a first zone with air and the minimum amount of supplemental fuel needed to burn all the coke. Part of the hot clean mineral solids produced is then discarded; the balance is moved into a second zone. Here supplemental fuel is burned to increase the temperature of the solids. The hot solids from the second zone are recycled to the coking stage.Only part of the solids is heated with supplemental fuel, thereby reducing consumption of the latter. In addition, the flue gas from the second zone is relatively clean and can be vented directly to the atmosphere in the flue gas from the first zone.
