  • Patent number: 5863258
Abstract: A golf ball retriever includes an elongate telescoping handle to which is attached a frame defining a golf ball entrance plane to be positioned over a golf ball. The dimensions of the plane are large relative to the diameter of the ball so that it is easily positioned under adverse conditions of visibility. A U-shaped hoop connected at both ends to the frame defines a ball-retaining chamber having openings large enough to freely pass mud and debris but too small to pass the ball. An elastic member or spring extends at least partly across the entrance plane, thereby dividing the entrance plane into two parts, neither of which is large enough to permit passage of the ball unless the spring is forced aside. The spring is arranged to be readily forced aside when the frame is pushed onto the ball to admit the ball to the ball-retaining chamber. The spring is stiff enough to prevent spontaneous release of the ball from the chamber. The spring has tubular ends.

  • Patent number: 5791845
Abstract: A device for anchoring a threaded fastener in a drywall or blind hole is molded in one flat piece having two half cylinders joined by a thin frangible hinge. Each half-cylinder carries half of a threaded bore divided axially. When folded together the two half-cylinders form a cylindrical headed anchor with a continuously threaded passage extended part way to the hinge. A threaded fastener advances readily down the bore until the unthreaded portion is reached. The fastener, as it advances in that portion, forces the halves apart, rupturing the hinge and anchoring the device.

  • Patent number: 5215078
Abstract: A massager includes an electric motor driven eccentric cam (7) in a housing (1). A moving member (8) is slidably mounted on the housing and is driven by the eccentric cam in a reciprocating, translatory motion relative to the housing. A hand grip (18) is mounted on each of the opposed ends of the moving member. The massager is held in the two hands by the hand grips. The housing reciprocates in translatory motion relative to the hand grips and imparts inertial forces to the grips and the hands for massaging action on both the hands and arms simultaneously. The massager is more easily held by arthritic hands than conventional devices. The device may be held between other paired body parts such as ankles and knees for applying massage therapy thereto. An alternative embodiment includes a series of parallel rollers pivotally attached to the housing for application to a body part such as the scalp when held by the two hand grips.

  • Patent number: 4788882
Abstract: A flywheel having a hollow rotatable structure which is driven for rotation on a predetermined axis and presents a cam surface eccentrically surrounding that axis, a guide arrangement inside the rotatable structure presenting a plurality of slideways extending outward from that axis to the cam surface, and rollers slidable along those slideways and engageable with the cam surface. The rotatable structure is rotatable with respect to the guide arrangement. The rollers provide the only coupling between the rotatable structure and the guide arrangement.
