  • Patent number: 4412436
Abstract: A time lock for bank vault doors and the like having timer units of the settable dial type, a bolt controlling plunger for locking and releasing a snubber bar blocking bolt mechanism, the timer units having a release pin for releasing the blocking bolt mechanism from said locking position when the dial reaches zero time position, and a shock-resistant plunger latching mechanism which will oppose by a sufficiently high counterforce the dynamic opening forces resulting from relative movements between the timing unit release pins and the locking system during shocks, but which will not oppose by any additional counterforce the normal opening forces from the release pin during normal operation in the absence of shocks, by introducing a gear train between the locking device and a relatively small mass to increase the virtual inertia of the system, introducing what appears to be a very high mass at the input of the locking device, and providing an elastic link between the input and the mass enabling the system to a

  • Patent number: 4375159
Abstract: A tubular wheel type key lock operable by a key, comprising a lock case, a plurality of peripherally gated tumbler wheels supported for rotation about a common axis. Each tumbler wheel include center hub portions and rim portions encircling the hub portions. Supporting formations are interposed between successive adjacent pairs of tumbler wheels defining spacers to rotatably support the tumbler wheels about a common center axis. A control cam mechanism is rotatable by a key and has means to link with a fence lever for retracting a bolt at a predetermined position of the tumbler wheels.

  • Patent number: 4359883
Abstract: A time delay combination lock having the usual combination mechanism including a stack of rotatable tumbler wheels journaled on a dial spindle by a driving cam, and a fence lever pivoted on a bolt to descend to a lower coupled position with the drive cam and retract the bolt along an unlocking path when the proper combination is dialed. A timing movement is provided having an intercoupling gear train including an input gear rearwardly adjacent the driving cam for winding the main spring to woundup condition upon rotation of the dial and driving cam through a predetermined arc. A pivoted blocking lever biased to a normal stop position is located in the unlocking path of part of the fence lever to bar unlocking movement of the fence lever in its lower coupled position, and the lock case has a fixed backup shoulder immediately adjacent the blocking lever to support the blocking lever against attempted forced displacement of the fence lever and bolt in a bolt unlocking direction.

  • Patent number: 4269050
Abstract: The invention disclosed in the application is a time lock for bank vault doors and the like having a plurality of timer units of the settable dial type with a clockwork mechanism which includes a slip clutch in the gear train which permits the main winding stem to be rotated in an unwinding direction to move the dial in a descending time direction if it has been overdriven to a higher time setting than desired, and which includes a kicker arm mechanism to be abruptly kicked by spring force against a carrier assembly for the time lock unit to shift the carrier to release position when the dial reaches zero time.

  • Patent number: 4224814
Abstract: A time lock for bank vault doors and the like having timer units of the settable dial type, a carrier assembly transversely movable in the housing between a locking position and a release position for locking and releasing a snubber bar blocking mechanism, the timer units having an actuator for engaging and moving the carrier assembly from said locking position to said release position when the dial reaches zero time position. The carrier assembly includes two relatively movable plates having abutment formations to be engaged by each actuator, the abutment formations of one plate extending a short distance ahead of the abutment formations of the other to be first engaged by the actuator and first move the one plate, and a pivoted deadbolt latch lever resiliently biased against a stationary stop for holding the carrier assembly against movement from said locking position and movable out of engagement with said stop upon movement of the one plate by the actuator.

  • Patent number: 4128237
Abstract: A card guideway frame is movable in the width direction of a card to select the column in which a hole is to be punched and the card insertion depth is variable to determine the spacing between the bottom edge of the card and the hole. The insertion depth is set by a stop passing through the wide aperture of the guideway frame and a carriage resting on a projection of the stop and movable along the length of the guideway frame with the stop carries a pair of guide plates having a narrow slit between them for the card and practically filling the aperture in the frame, so as to constrain the card into a flat shape, correcting any arching and resisting any bending from insertion forces, even though the frame restrains only the extreme edges of the card at the sides of the working area.
