Publication number: 20230173417Abstract: Water or wastewater filtration systems and processes have a filter tank having a floor and sidewall defining a filtration zone, an influent conduit, and an effluent conduit. One or more filtration members in the tank having filter media, and one or more cleaning members adjacent at least some portions of the filter media. Generating an effluent stream by generating a pressure differential across submerged portions of the filtration media, causing water in the influent to flow from outside to inside the submerged portions of the filter media. A prime mover rotates the filtration members. A blower and chamber for creating a reduced pressure condition in each of the cleaning members when they are non-submerged, the chamber receiving wet solids removed from non-submerged, wet solids-laden portions of the filter media by the non-submerged cleaning members subsequent to submerged, fouled portions of the filter media being rotated out of the filtration zone.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2022Publication date: June 8, 2023Applicant: GREATPYR RESOURCES LLCInventors: HELEN SERGERIE, CHARLES G. Patent number: 10905981Abstract: A backwash header for a cloth filter includes a body having a length, a diameter, first and second ends, a longitudinal axis, and an exterior surface, the body defining at least one internal cavity. The body includes at least one suction slot sized to allow fluids and solids to enter the internal cavity from outside of the exterior surface. A structure is attached to a portion of the exterior surface of the body around and extending away from the suction slot to form an open-ended chamber defined by the structure and a portion of the exterior surface near the suction slot. The structure allows fluids and solids to enter the open-ended chamber and then the suction slot and cavity from a material being cleaned. Cloth filters and methods of treating water and wastewater using the backwash headers and cloth filters.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2014Date of Patent: February 2, 2021Assignee: Alfa Laval Corporate ABInventor: Charles G. Dannemann

Patent number: 10016706Abstract: A fluid filtering apparatus such as for filtering particulates and other materials from treated water includes a tank and a filtering region configured as a plurality of individual effluent regions, defined in part by channel frames, disposed between a plurality of influent regions interposed between the effluent regions. Filter plates having an opening therethrough covered by a filter media are removable receivable in the channel frames, such that filter media in filter plates in adjacent channel frames is in a facing, opposed, relationship. A double sided backwash shoe is scannable in the influent regions, to simultaneously clean opposed filter media exposed thereto. The backwash shoe is free to move inwardly and outwardly of the opposed filter media. Additionally, the tank may include a second filtering region, which is selectively isolatable from the first filtering region.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 2014Date of Patent: July 10, 2018Assignee: ALFA LAVAL CORPORATE ABInventors: Charles G. Dannemann, Ross Lee Drescher, Matthew Cody Adams

Patent number: 8778174Abstract: Methods and apparatus for treating water and wastewater include the step of flowing a suspended solids stream generally upward through a sludge blanket region of a cloth disk filter vessel, thus forming a partially treated effluent composition and a solids-enriched sludge blanket. The partially treated effluent composition is allowed to flow generally upward to a cloth filter zone in the vessel after contacting the sludge blanket. The methods include flowing the suspended solids stream through one or more distribution headers positioned in the sludge blanket. An option is to provide a sludge concentration zone in the sludge blanket region, allowing sludge to flow into the sludge concentration zone to form concentrated sludge. Other methods and apparatus include backwash assemblies that backwash substantially the entire filter cassette surfaces, with or without use of a sludge blanket zone. Either the backwash assemblies or filter cassettes move in the latter methods and apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2010Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: Alfa Laval Ashbrook Simon-Hartley Inc.Inventors: Yongming Xia, Jeffrey S. Devine, Charles G. Dannemann
