    Abstract: Apparatus for supporting pipe as it is laid from a vessel in a body of water is described. The apparatus includes a stinger movable from an operating position supporting the pipe to a protected position beneath the vessel. Apparatus for moving the stinger from the operating position to the protected position and securing it to the vessel is also provided.
