  • Patent number: 11353920
Abstract: An overlay surface for a user interface of a device comprises a lower light-diffusing semitransparent layer affixed to an upper transparent layer. Graphics printed on the bottom surface of the transparent layer are protected from wear by the overlying transparent layer, while light sources back-illuminating the graphics from below are diffused by the semitransparent layer before they reach the graphics. The graphics of the surface may be provided by an opaque mask having transparent or translucent cutouts. The multilayer surface enables the graphics to be evenly back-illuminated while at the same time being protected from external wear without the need for additional light-diffusing elements such as light pipes.

  • Patent number: 7926916
Abstract: An adhesive joint with an ink trap is provided. The joint may be employed in a cartridge for an inkjet printer. The cartridge includes a headland region attached to a printhead assembly by an adhesive layer. The adhesive joint between the headland region and the printhead assembly include notches for retaining additional adhesive in order to reduce degradation of adhesive due to ink penetration. A method of assembling the printer cartridge to include an ink trap in the adhesive joint is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7212328
Abstract: An electron beam actuated light modulator, including an actuatable mirror element carried by a pedestal and hinge portion, having an electrostatically more neutral first position and an electrostatically more charged second position, the mirror being actuatable in a first direction from the first position to the second position by charge accumulation, and is actuatable in a second direction from the second position to the first position by dissipation of the charge accumulation and a stop element positioned adjacent the mirror element in the first position, configured to limit movement of the mirror element in the second direction after the mirror reaches the first position traveling in the second direction.
