Recommending changes in the design of an integrated circuit using a rules-based analysis of failures
Patent number: 12547802Abstract: A computer-implemented method, system and computer program product for recommending design changes in designing a digital integrated circuit. An analysis of the digital integrated circuit being designed is performed, where the result of such an analysis involves violations being identified and stored. A stored violation, such as a cross-domain, cross-hierarchy and multi-cycle violation, may then be analyzed to identify a root cause of the violation using a rule. Such a rule may be used for triaging various failures in the cross-domain, cross-hierarchy and/or multi-cycle violation of the digital integrated circuit. A design change in the design of the digital integrated circuit may then be recommended based on the identified root cause of the violation. In this manner, the root cause of failures are effectively identified in the design of digital integrated circuits using an offline analysis of cross-domain, cross-hierarchy and/or multi-cycle violations using a rules-based approach.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2022Date of Patent: February 10, 2026Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: SheshaShayee K Raghunathan, Charles Gates, Kerim Kalafala, Steven Joseph Kurtz, Morgan D. Publication number: 20080066042Abstract: Existing text output from a design rule checker is put in appropriate input format, and automatically displayed as text within a design tool using existing design tool capabilities, such as highlighting, zooming, and drawing box-regions. A graphical display of the output of the rule checker includes the informative text. Design rule violations are listed in a manner in which they can be individually selected. The output is displayed on a unique software program layer within the design tool so as to not effect or make any permanent changes to the original design file. The layers can be safely deleted when no longer in use.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 6, 2007Publication date: March 13, 2008Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Bruce Archambeault, Thaddeus Chen, Michelle Cook, Charles Gates, Derrick Scott

Publication number: 20070055021Abstract: Disclosed is a polyethylene composition. The composition comprises single-site multimodal resin A and single-site multimodal resin B, wherein resin A differs from resin B in molecular weight, in monomeric composition, in density, in long chain branch concentration or distribution, or in combinations thereof. Disclosed is also a method for making the polyethylene composition. The method comprises polymerizing, in the presence of two or more single-site catalysts, ethylene or its mixture with a C3-C10 ?-olefin to form a first multimodal resin and continuing the polymerization in the presence of the same catalysts but in a different hydrogen concentration, in a different monomer composition, or at a different temperature to form a second multimodal resin.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2005Publication date: March 8, 2007Inventors: Venki Chandrashekar, Mark Mack, Charles Gates, Charles Holland, Natalia Nagy, Sandor Nagy, Edward Vargas, Jean Merrick-Mack

Publication number: 20060123364Abstract: An improved solution for designing and/or evaluating a circuit is provided. A rule violation can be detected in design data for the circuit and a prediction can be generated based on an adjustment to the design data. For example, multiple predictions can be generated based on an adjustment window for an adjustable parameter in the design data. The predictions can be displayed to a user, who can determine a desired modification to the design data. The modification can be implemented by the user and/or automatically implemented by a circuit design tool.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2004Publication date: June 8, 2006Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Michelle Cook, Bruce Archambeault, Charles Gates, Derrick Scott

Patent number: 6297297Abstract: A method of making a multilayered, resilient flooring containing a multicolored pattern is disclosed. The method includes applying a multiplicity of pigmented, thermoplastic microbeads to a top surface of a thermoplastic base layer to form a pattern layer on the base layer, which typically remains sufficiently hot so that it is molten or tacky when the microbeads are applied. The base layer and pattern layer can be covered with a substantially transparent material to form a clear top layer. The base layer can be formed by melting a dry blend comprising polyvinylchloride (PVC) to produce a molten PVC output, shaping the molten PVC output into a smooth PVC sheet of uniform thickness. The microbeads can be applied to the base layer using a stencil. The multiplicity of microbeads can include microbeads of two or more colors. Preferably, the microbeads are approximately spherical and have an average diameter between 0.002″ and 0.040″.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2000Date of Patent: October 2, 2001Assignee: Teknor Apex CompanyInventors: Robert S.
