  • Publication number: 20190088371
Abstract: A method includes creating a three-dimensional model of a bone structure that defines a space and placing a three-dimensional shape near the model of the bone structure. The three-dimensional shape is warped to surfaces of the bone structure to form a warped three-dimensional shape. A volume of the warped three-dimensional shape is determined to estimate a volume of the space.

  • Patent number: 9549744
Abstract: A spinal probe comprises a handle, a shaft coupled to the handle and a force sensor to detect forces applied to a tip of the shaft. A controller that executes a predictive algorithm to predict whether or not the tip of the shaft is going to breach a cortex of a pedicle based on the detected forces. The controller may be embedded within the spinal probe or external within a computer or other device coupled to the probe by a data acquisition component.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 15, 2010
Date of Patent: January 24, 2017
Assignee: Regents of the University of Minnesota
