  • Patent number: 10010254
Abstract: A fabric with an integrated sensor array and optionally with an integrated display; the fabric may be mounted to the surface of an object to be measured or monitored. The fabric may comprise multiple laminar layers, such as sensor layers, processing layers, display layers, and cladding layers for protection and sealing. Data analysis performed by processing layers may include beamforming operations, frequency filters, or any desired transformations. An illustrative display uses a layer of liquid crystal cells sandwiched between polarizing filter layers. An illustrative sensor array is an array of piezoelectric acoustic sensors formed by adjacent layers of calcium carbonate cells and potassium bitartrate cells. An application of acoustic sensor arrays may include for example a patch attached to a person's skin that senses and displays the location and size of blood vessels under the skin using the sound generated by blood flow.

  • Patent number: 9961332
Abstract: A display system for a head mounted device that illuminates the peripheral regions of the user's field of view to enhance an immersive experience. The system may use peripheral light emitters to the left and right of one or more central displays. Peripheral light emitters may provide lower resolution images, or only with vertical resolution, corresponding to the user's lower resolution vision in these peripheral regions. Reflective surfaces and lenses may be used to direct peripheral light into desired shapes and patterns. Rendering of peripheral light colors and intensities at each peripheral pixel may use approximations for improved performance since users may not be sensitive to precise color values in the peripheral regions.

  • Publication number: 20180074562
Abstract: A system and method configured to improve the function of a network of Power Over Ethernet (POE) devices. The system and method is configured such that a digital video recorder (DVR) actively monitors the POE devices using the POE device application programming interface (API). The DVR, in response to a POE failure or non-responsive POE status may automatically power cycle the port of the network switch corresponding to the POE device, or may power cycle (reboot) the network switch. The system and method also may notify a remote user through a wide area network (WAN) and remote monitor, allowing the remote user to alternatively manually power cycle the network switch and/or the POE(s) ports.

  • Publication number: 20170316840
Abstract: Configurations of molten fuel salt reactors are described that allow for active cooling of the containment vessel of the reactor by the primary coolant. Furthermore, naturally circulating reactor configurations are described in which the reactor cores are substantially frustum-shaped so that the thermal center of the reactor core is below the outlet of the primary heat exchangers. Heat exchanger configurations are described in which welded components are distanced from the reactor core to reduce the damage caused by neutron flux from the reactor. Radial loop reactor configurations are also described.

  • Publication number: 20170092381
Abstract: A dynamic neutron reflector assembly for a “breed-and-burn” fast reactor incrementally adjusts neutron spectrum and reactivity in a reactor core. The composition of materials in the dynamic neutron reflector may be adjusted to change neutron reflectivity levels, or to introduce neutron moderating or absorption characteristics. The dynamic neutron reflector may contain a flowing reflecting liquid of adjustable volume and/or density. Submergible members may be selectively inserted into the flowing reflecting liquid to alter its volume and introduce other neutron modifying effects such as moderation or absorption. Selective insertion of the submergible members allows for concentration of the neutron modifying effects in a selected portion of the reactor core. The flowing reflecting liquid may also act as a secondary coolant circuit by exchanging heat with the molten fuel salt.
